Price Reductions

I note that prices of Canon kit are starting to fall quite nicely.
Price of a 5D MkII is now the same with Battery GRip and extra battery included as it was in June for body only - or only £1850ish without battery grip and battery.

That's a few hundred quid saving.

Is the Japanese economy recovering or do Canon have something to tell us?
How are thr other manufacturers coming along with prices?

I wish Nikon would drop the D700 prices - been promising myself one all year but hard to justify until the shutter goes on my D80 - I`m at 51,000 activations now so you never know.

I just noticed a price of £1549 for the 7D at this place http://www.cameracentrecardiff.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=7d  doesnt mention the extra battery and 8gb card though, WE price £1699 with the extra's

I picked mine up for £1399 from Digital Depot.

They were doing a special deal for preorders from members of another site.

Looking on Jacobs website it appears both the D3 and D3x have dropped in price but not by much. Japan is going through a deep recession as the Yen has risen against most currencies, which makes their goods very expensive.

Yen is rising against the dollar.

My niece's college fees (she's Japanese studying in NYC) dropped by a few $000s.

Oh and there's a RUMOUR of a D3S in the shops by Chrimbo.

Well they could merge the extraordinary high ISO of the D3 with the pixel density of the D3X.  That would get my attention.

But it's likely they will just whack video into a D3 - which (despite what everybody thinks) could be interesting......

BTW I'm supposed to be borrowing an H3D soon.  That could be fun.
