Title: FastPictureViewer Codecs
Post by: Hinfrance on October 28, 2011, 08:38:55 AM
For those of us who have Windows of some description and don't have bridge (and perhaps even if you do), then you may have come across the fact that Explorer does not display thumbnails for various images types. I was finding this a bit of a nuisance as I use image files in DTP and other applications.

FastPictureViewer Codecs (http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/) is a cheap codec pack ($14.95) that allows Explorer to display thumbnails of all RAW images including .dng and lots of other non Windows supported file types like .psd. For Pentax users with Windows 7 it solves the problem that Pentax don't supply a RAW codec for anything above Vista.

I have had it installed on my PCs for a couple of weeks and can recommend it. Makes life somewhat easier if you use Explorer to locate image files.

I do not, of course, have any financial or other interest in this software, I just find it a boon to use.
