Title: K/M Dynax/Maxxum 5D
Post by: spinner on December 27, 2007, 11:48:30 PM
I decided to kickstart this thread.

Having owned a number of Minolta film cameras over the years I naturally put together a collection of Minolta lenses. Logic told me the next step was either the Dynax 5 or 7D but by the time I had saved up the money KM got out of the camera business and none were to be had here in Canada. Thats how I became a Nikon owner.
Now I really like my D50 and have collected several lenses for it over the last couple of years, but I couldn`t
get rid of my craving for a KM digital SLR. Sure the Sony Alpha was out there, but as I have posted elsewhere
on the Internet, I`ve had bad luck, experience with Sony and it`s service. A friend got me interested in Ebay with his tale of finding an inexpensive Leica for his wife so I surfed away. Eventually I found a used Dynax 5D.

Now I have both and use both regularly. What I really love about my KM is the plethora of inexpensive used Minolta lenses available. So now that I`ve outed myself as a KM lover who else on the site is a closet KM er.

Alas, poor K/M 5D, she is a goner. :'( I confess, I killed her in a fit of rage,  >:(well more like annoyance at not getting the dust specks out in the usual fashion. I will never ever take a swab of chemicals to a camera sensor ever again. :-[ Anyone want a nearly full bottle of Methanol? ::)

I'd feel bad, taking advantage of the simple minded.  ;D

Mind you. looking at the "new" 300s, wonder whether Nikon believe their consumers have 1) bottomless wallets 2) two bats in their skulls to play tennis with their solitary brain cell!  :D

My Dynax 500si (donated by my father in law) is always in my camera bag ready loaded with black and white film..........although I have to send it to Melbourne to get processed nowadays.
