When using the lasso tool in PSE7 I very carefully go round the edge of an object to select it but when I join it up to get the marching ants I end up with a selection that is smaller than the shape I selected and all the corners are rounded off e.g. if I was to select an oblong, I'd end up with an ellipse shape of marching ants inside the oblong.
Any idea when I've got set that I shouldn't have??
Thanks
Mike.
I've only got a french version of Elements 7.0 and some of the menu items are not in the same order. However, in the row of tool context bar below the main menu bar at the top of the Elements window you should see a box that says 'Feather'. I suspect that you have got a high number in there (the maximum is 250 pixels). I don't know what you're trying to select or why, but try a nice low number to see the difference.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Tringle is correct, marching ants only show the selection not the feathering, to see the amount of feathering after making the selectio switch to "refine edges" under the select bar, you can also adjust the amount of feathering here and see the effect.
Thanks H and Oly Paul, the feathering sorted it out.
