Title: Studio shot
Post by: anglefire on June 02, 2022, 10:30:00 AM
As in the description, taken at the Attic Studio in Leicester with Vampire Princess on a Studio lighting "course" - enjoyable day but wonder what others thoughts are. I do have some more, but she doesn't tend to wear many clothes - what she had on first thing lasted 35minutes.  :2funny:

I think it's a great photo. The lighting is very good, but I guess that's the point of the 'course.'
Good work.

We did some shots with gridded boxes, one on each side - and was interesting to see the effect as she moved back and forth in the light. I have a lovely example where the centre of the body is in shadow and the two sides parts of the face are illuminated - but I don't think Mike would necessarily like total nude (You can't see a lot as it happens due to the shadows)

And another technique where you have a very strong direct light from the front with the BG lit - when using a longish lens (100mm FF) you get a sort of shadow around the outline - it can be very subtle. Apparently very popular in the 20's/30's and upto the 50's - the one book he used to illustrate some of the techniques had examples and that was published in 1947 or thereabouts!

John Duder was taking the course.

In fact his shot had the gridded boxes - but being a little further back was more illuminated - but there is still a "shadow" down the middle
