Weekly Comp:13/08/17 to 20/08/17- CHAT THREAD – ROOTS
The topic for this week is ROOTS
Hopefully you can all find a root of some sort, edible ones, poisonous ones, family roots...
No restrictions on editing. Pictures to be taken preferably between now and Sunday 27th Aug 2017, 23:59, OR please enter something from your personal archives.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23:59pm Monday 28th August 2017.
Poll will be up Tuesday 29th August 2017 .
Winner to be announced Saturday 2nd September 2017

Back to my Roots

I had to resort to my grandparents. This is the only picture I have of Both my father and mother's parents together. I never knew them, the were all born in the 19th Century and the lady on the left passed away 3 months after I was born. They ware in National dress of the island.

Last week one of the places we visited with our guests was the museum of Versunna in Perigueux. The ruins of the tower of the temple of Versunna (essentially the romanised name of the sun god, Sunna) still stands 1800 years or so after it was constructed. There is a modern museum just behind this which encloses the archaeologicial remains of a grand patrician villa.
I thought rather than an image of the inside of the museum the tower itself was a better representation of the roots of modern day Perigueux.
