Something a little different this week, possibly a little more challenging but hopefully fun.
The theme is FAKE ALBUM COVER. For this one you must follow the instructions.
1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit "random" or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to "Random quotations" or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Come up with a picture to suit the band name and album title. I think a square crop would work best but this is not essential.
No restrictions on post-processing, you don't have to include the text in the image but please title your image with the band and album name when you add it to the gallery.
All photos to be taken by midnight on Sunday 5th April.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 6th April 2015.
Poll will be up Tuesday 7th April 2015.
Winner to be announced Saturday 11th April 2015.
The Rules for the weekly competition are...
By entering you agree to take responsibility to:
Post a topic on, or before the Sunday following your declared win
Create an entries thread
Create a chat thread
Create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc
Greta idea Ogga but I foresee a problem. I got my band title no problem and was OK I guess - then hit the link a few more times to see what came up and got some better , some worse but stuck with my first as per instructions. Trouble is when you hit the random quotes one you always get the same front page. Again I got my quote noted down and thought - thanks! Wrote it down then generated another to find I always got " Of the Human Race" as the last 4 words of the last quote. Will everyone thus not get the same album title or am I being thick?
Later edit
Just looked again and if you amend instructions to hit the shaded "New Random Quotations from these collections" it will generate a new page every time but with the link you do get the same page each time.
This is exciting different fun and my kinda thing.....then again I might change my mind once I get the titles......
I used Bing and http://www.quoteland.com/random.asp , on account of the fact that the last 4 words on the wikiquotes page were, as Jinky says, all the same, and because they didn't make any sense.
However, I have a result to work with. Now to apply some thought to the matter.
Got mine. Just need a picture or 2 now for the cover . :hmm:
Sorry for any confusion on the quotes page. I didn't get the same quote as you, jinky, but I did get the same quote as my first time when I tried again. So there shouldn't be a problem with everyone getting the same quote. Or if people want to use Howard's quote generator instead that's fine too.
I've got mine, I have to say my band title is very interesting (perhaps a rap band).
My band name has 2 words. Do I have to use both words or can I use just 1?

I don't have a problem with this. The same goes for the album title if the quote makes more sense with less words.
That's cool Ogga, the last two words of my quote could work quite well 8)
Ok, my lines were as follows.
Connecticut Route 173
They will find a way to explore.
So my fake album cover is as follows.
(http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11290/normal_ALBUM_COVER_1.jpg) (http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=17353&fullsize=1)
(http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11290/normal_album_lhs.jpg) (http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=17356&fullsize=1)
It needs a bit of tweaking but its a start, not sure which to use now. Flipped the second picture to make it "American" as the band is called "Route 173" and grunged it in PP.
Second cover has wrong wording on it, explore NOT escape
Like it already.
That VW looks like my kind of car. 8)
ken, yes, Rat Look, mates van.
Jeff...u set the bar high
Time to burn in work, then at my mates garage then out on the road shooting, however i only have VW's which worked ok with my 2 themes that i got when the post was first published.
May try some others and put the search's in again as TBH totally enjoyed doing these.
Really nice work kerbside.
As for me, my album title ended up being thoroughly depressing. Here's what I came up with:
Antoine Guenée - work on in despair

these are wonderful. I'm not sure how I can put my wording on my album cover (only have access to Lightroom = so if anyone has any advice please let me know)
Still working on mine
great challenge this week
Jen, you don't have to put the words on the cover if you don't want to. Many classic albums don't have any words on the cover.
Otherwise here is a web-based tool I found with a google search: http://www.quickpicturetools.com/en/add_text/
Great work so far, and an enjoyable challenge!
I had a 'random Google,' and found some delightful album titles, like:
Men do not think, Something to be alive, and Wonderful to listen to.
Sadly, been too much 'otherwise engaged,' to do anything with them. Camera is gathering dust at the moment.
Reinardina its a shame you have other commitments. I think your take on this one would be great.

You flatter me. I could manage the editing, but the shooting is the problem.
Can't u set up a still life?

I'm more of an outdoors photographer and, to be honest, hate still lifes. I never get them right, probably because I don't have the patience to do it properly. It's simply not my thing.
Funny that we are all different,i like the challenge of this theme, more me.

I agree with you, this is one of the best challenges of the last ... years? Would have loved to get my teeth into it, but my brain is not very focused (on photography) at the moment, and my time filled with other stuff.
I agree. Fab challenge. Different. Challenging. Focused.individual.
OK, I have mine.....
The 'band' name was Kent Lambert, but it seemed like a person more than a band so, after seeking permission, I dropped the Kent. I went for a wild west gambling kind of theme. So here it is...
Lambert - Go For Broke

I have some of what I need to do mine, but I am way behind in finishing. We have visitors at the moment, and we are rather occupied - they broke their car rather badly on a pothole in England on the way to the ferry port: just how badly was not apparent until they got here. The last few days have been rather filled with visits to various repairers and parts specialists trying to sort it out. Oh and long dinners with a respectable amount of wine . . .

Potholes are terrible here. I seem to spend a fair amount of time avoiding them. Enjoy the wine ????.
I'm still struggling to come up with anything even half decent but I've got a few hours left!
My Wikipedia random was "Limnonectes Shompenorum" !!! (Latin for "Shompen Frog") which I thought sounded a bit like a rap band.
My quote random was 'All their wasted hours'
I haven't been able to overwrite my album title onto the image - to hard in Lightroom and still learning how to use it.

Tweaked mine a little bit

I've been having a play with a few album covers but nothing seems to be working at the moment. I'll keep trying but this is the best of a bad bunch so far.
The band is Charles Knickerbocker Harley (British economic historian) and the album is Have it No Longer.
Good entries so far.

I agree. Great entries so far.
Or maybe this.

I'm in
As mine came with the name of a living person, I have changed the spelling slightly to avoid unforeseen consequences.
The name is Julie Dixon, the quote ended with the words 'Human Salvation'.

Not at all what I was planning to do, but it's been a rough week for free time and my priorities have come a poor last in the pecking order.
Oh poor H! Last in the pecking order. Did you not foresee the endless stream of guests, when you retired to France?
Nothing from me this week I am afraid. Just buried in editing my daughter`s wedding shots and visitors staying added to the mix. Shame I always like this kind of topic :-[
Nothing from me either, been rather too busy here this week ( and the old inspiration block was not fired up by the random offerings that came up like - The Treasury of the United States of America :-\ and similar  )
7 entries so far. All so different. The voting will be very hard. Its a while since I have been this excited about a theme.

I done a quick edit on mine, felt it was needing something. Good luck everyone.
We are all pruning our images!
I like what you've done there Matthew.

Cheers, I had this "it needs something" feeling. Luckily I figured it out in time.
