CHAT THREAD
THE ENTRIES THREAD IS HERE (http://cameracraniums.com/forum/index.php?topic=3911.new#new)
This week's theme is SAYINGS. The object is to post an image that illustrates a well know phrase, saying or epigram. If you are jinky you may want to achieve this through the use of some photographic pun, otherwise you might want to be more literal. Easy examples would be 'full of beans','having your cake and eating it', 'time flies', 'everything is coming up roses', that sort of thing.
There is no restriction on your imagination, no restriction on post production.
Go to it!
Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday 21st April 2014 to 23:59 Sunday 27th April 2014.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 28th April 2014.
Poll will be up Tuesday 29th April 2014.
Winner to be announced Saturday 3rd May 2014.
The Rules for the weekly competition are...
By entering you agree to take responsibility to
Post a topic on the Sunday following your declared win
Create an entries thread
Create a chat thread
Create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc.)
In case of a tie, the first entry posted wins.
Photos to be taken during the specified dates, ie Monday xx to Sunday xx
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59 Monday night.
This is something, my Dutch brain somehow has terrific difficulties with. But I'll see if I can come up with something.
Rather a busy week though, but then, I haven't had a quiet one for months.
If only it stopped raining!
hmmmm.........a few ideas here

Cats and Dogs :D ;)
Perhaps I'll try and get back into the swing if I can finally hold the camera steady now the pain has eased. Thinking cap on.
I too have a few ideas, now I just need the ability and time to turn the ideas into a photo!!
I know this is an 'oldie but goodie' subject, but it's one that I find is always a lot of fun. Or at least it ought to be. ;)
How about," Double Dutch", Reinardina. :legit:

How lovely to 'see' you again!
I did 'Double Dutch' for one of the PhotoRadar competitions once. A bottle of Jenever, and a bottle of Bols, if I remember correctly.
My brain is a bit slow at the moment, and I simply cannot think beyond the shot I took then. Once I've got something in my head, it sluggishly sticks there, and I cannot think 'round' it.
Got a lot on at the moment, but trying to think about sayings and images, does take my mind of other things. If only I could forget those bottles! (They haven't been touched since, so that is
not the cause!)
Pity I took this shot too early.
"Setting the world to rights" could have been my entry otherwise.

that's a great shot Reinardina, makes you wonder what they are discussing.
I have an idea for this one, just need all the 'elements' to behave
trouble is, we will all be trying to remember the sayings and try to get in before someone posts 'our chosen' saying :-)

There are so many sayings, it would be pure coincidence if two (or more) people stumbled on the same one.
If that were to happen though, it would be interesting to see the different interpretations.
This is probably my entry, in early as other stuff to do during week. Cheezy but that's what this ones about.
Does it have to be cheesy? I'll have to do a rethink.
It can be cheesy, funny, serious or just about anything else. :)
Maybe I should have said 'tongue in cheek'.
You could have shot that.
Here is my entry, I originally want my kitty to 'perform' but Bride the wonder dog is far better behaved.
It's a dog's life

I'm in with this sad picture:
The eyes have it.

Going to take mine his afternoon, if I can get my current DAW* glitch out of my system.
*Nothing to do with pictures. Got an ASIO driver that won't run.
Some good entries in so far. :)
I have had a couple of ideas, and I need the weather to cheer up for one of them. If not, then I've got this to fall back on.
Spill the beans...

Decided to stick with my original idea as if i change it, I will wonder how it would have fared if I hadn't. Changed the whole thing to B&W as I decided the pink flamingo didn't suit. This flamingo was taken on Monday with my new biggie lens and I was pleased with the quality. Not sure my PP skills are as good though!

I prefer the flamino in black and white, I like the light on the hand too. I sat here this afternoon going over sayings in my head, and then remembered a stone I had been given with a heart on, and went with heart of stone. Love the subject for this comp.

Chris, nice to see you putting that new lens to good use!
How are the biceps coming on by the way? ;)
Chris I carry the 150 - 500mm on a strap over my shoulder so its not too bad but......still pumps up the biceps
that's very clever Jane, and I love how you have put this together.
it's funny that something as simple as a competition theme can really predominate your thinking.
nice to see a new face

Difference between Chalk & Cheese
(http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/albums/userpics/11290/normal_cheese.jpg) (http://cameracraniums.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=15678&fullsize=1)
Jeff, Im supping a glass of red wine whilst watching Sunderland on TV fighting for their (premiership) lives. That cheese would go perfect with the wine. Then I could chew on the chalk to get shot of the indigestion afterwards!
Its going to be very hard to vote this week. Its a while since I (personally) have seen such a strong and close competition.
Well done everyone. Its gonna be an exciting vote.
Like Howard I always like a bit of fun with "sayings". Took me ages to construct this fake egg and burst out!!

Have I counted right? 11 entries? Excellent.
Yeah we`ll be lucky to get a vote each at this rate! Always a popular theme - well done H. Proves oldies are best ;)
I could not agree more.
Some great creative photos. Its been interesting to see them coming in this week. ;)
No entry from me, it has been a really busy weekend but it is good to see so many entries!!
oh dear, is it always this hard to decide on your vote, so many I like here ???
