Nearly put this in "what annoyed me" section. Got given a link for much reduced Nik software here:
http://www.niksoftware.com/nikcollection/usa/index.php?view=intro/main.shtml
which with another discount coupon is 15% less again - coupone code MORETHANWORDS15
All bought and a download link sent which I promptly downloaded. It says that the file is called
"007_22671_WIN_FULL[1] File (.007_22671_win_full[1])"
I should be able to click and load it into Lightroom 3.6 or CS 6 but no success with either. With CS6 it just brings up a box saying " it is the wrong kind of document". In a flickr group I`ve been advised it might need renaming and reinstalling as an exe file but noone says how I do that. I`ve sent a query to Nik Software who may take up to 2 days to get back to me their automated message says.
AQnyone any ideas re: the title above as to what sort of file it is or what I should do.
Google have bought Ni software and are offering all 6 modeuls for less than the cost of oen previously - if it works. Seems OK for others just me beig thick I think :-[
Not a problem I'll have. Can't afford it and certainly can't afford Photoshop* :'(
Hope you manage to sort it out Paul, does seem like a really good deal.
*I'm saving up for another guitar :uglystupid2:
I cannot play the guitar I have :uglystupid2:
The download links I got were for a .EXE for Windows and a .DMG for Mac. They are regular installer files for both OSs.

Neither can I, as well as I would like, but progress is being made on a daily basis ;)

Try double clicking on the file, as it may be a compressed zip, or other format and it might open and run.
Else,
Select the file and change the extension to .EXE by using the rename option. If you want to make sure it's a .EXE file, open notebook and use that to open the file, and if it contains a load of commands then it's the correct file.

Exact filename: NikCollection_1.007_22671_win_full.exe
Another idea, try using a different browser. I suggest Chrome, I know it works for this.
Quite a few people have complained about this problem, but apparently all you need do is stick .exe after full. My download was OK.
Harry
Thanks all. Yes the non .exe file name was the issue but finally managed to get it renamed and now installed. No chance to play yet but first glimpse looks a stunning range of kit for the money. Just a tad worrying that the first thing Google do on taking over is to issue files with the wrong names!
