I snapped this with my compact. In rather a hurry, and a bit over exposed as a result. ("Recovery" on the RAW file hasn't really fixed it.)

I intend to go back with the SLR, (it will need good early morning light) and suspect a polarising filter might considerably improve the shot. Any suggestions welcome...
It'll certainly help you to to control the reflections in all that glass. :tup:
Agreed, all that glass would be tamed with a Polariser, also will bring more detail to the sky.
I need to buy a Polariser and an ND......they've gone walkies and I can't find them anywhere :doh:

The first chance of sun since the previous shot - this time with a DSLR and polariser.

The pavement was wet this time - melted snow. the polariser helped a lot with the sky but did nothing for the reflections off the glass (as you'd expect). But at least it didn't kill all the nice reflected light effects. (I got there too early so took a number of shots with different (earlier) light and people in, but I think this is best.

That is a really big reflection. A polarizer is more for subtle reflections.
I was there before the sun touched the building. The polariser wouldn't reduce the reflections of buildings opposite in the glass even then. But from what I've read I didn't expect it to. It improved the sky though.
