It's normal because the Brits, or maybe only the English, panic buy, because the supermarket will be closed for
one whole day! (Two if it's Waitrose.)
And just in case they get snowed in, or flooded out, they buy enough to hibernate till somewhere in April. Only, they'll be out again on New Year's eve!
