CHAT FOR "GLASS AND METAL" IN THIS THREAD PLEASE:
Thought I'd post the new theme up a wee bit earlier to give you all some extra thinking time. I was racking my brains for something to get the creative juices going and came up with "Glass and Metal".
Basically entries should have one or more subjects incorporated of glass and metal. This can be of say, a stained glass window or a modern office block, the only limit is your imagination ;). The style or genre of how you choose to shoot/compose your subject is completely up to you, but it must contain the 2 elements of the theme.
As with previous competitions, you are "weapons free" on editing.
Entries thread can be found here: http://cameracraniums.com/forum/index.php?topic=3073.0
Good Luck!

Hi George and welcome to the competition....cheers for your entry...I was getting worried....
Thanks you :) i've enjoyed watching these competitions for a while now and have finally decided to join in :)
Welcome georgeH
For better or worse, I've posted one up. Hope I've done it right - not done this before!!
Thank goodness, I don't have to rely on my back up, indoor, 'metal and glass' shot.
I took this shot earlier in the week, not specifically for the competition, and went back to town today, as the sun is out, and to check that the window frames are metal. Thank goodness they are.
So I'm in with a bit of a social study: Why do men prefer to wait in front of a window full of sexy lingerie, but studiously look 'the other way'?

Liking the shot of the SS Sir Walter Scott, SimonW......I do like a boat shot. Your entry is fine Loveclose, some nice out the box thinking there.
.....forgot to add, still thinking what to do for mine....... :uglystupid2:
Matthew, nothing to say about my entry? So far you've said something to everyone who entered, apart from me! I'm feeling left out.
Is it cos I'm a woman, or is my observation too close for comfort? ;D
Aww, sorry Reinardina.....I do like your shot too. I didn't mention anything because I myself am guilty of that particular thing of standing in front of a window like that and looking the other way.....partly because my Wife is in the shop....haha! ;D
I am intrigued though, how did you test to see if the window frames were metal?.... ;)

Thank you Matthew.
I must have looked even more strange than the waiting men, as I first felt the window frame and then tapped it! Definitely metal!
Thanks you DigiDiva :)
Reinardina, i never noticed that before but there are always men hanging around lingerie shops but feigning lack of interest, strange peoples. :)

I see it regularly, but I'm being taken through my paces (if that's the right expression) by a photographer, who is a master in (street) candids. I'm beginning to 'see' more now. Problem is, I'm partially sighted, so I only see things when I'm on top of them and too close to take a picture. I have to stop, turn around and fire.
Or walk back 'innocently' and see what I can do.
I'm scared to death they spot me (as I cannot see if their eyes are looking at me), so it is often a hurried job with dire results.
Non come up with an idea as yet..has one that has already been used so will try to become inspired before midnight.

Cheers! Was more concerned that it was posted correctly. Nice lot of pics submitted for this weekly comp! :)
OK I have a last minute entry that was taken yesterday.

Not been around due to internet issues but thought one of my weekend wedding shots just about fits the brief with the metal bandstand and opaque roof.

Hi George. Sometimes I show people the picture I took of them, and I haven't met anyone who objected yet. Sometimes I don't, like in the case of the men outside the Ann Summers shop.
I don't think people are too aware of me and my camera, but, as I said, I often don't know if they are looking at me or not.
I don't like it, when they start to 'pose,' in which case I don't take their picture. Unless of course they are really 'over the top,' and pulling faces, that I simply cannot resist!
I often come across people taking pictures of each other, and they sometimes ask, and I often offer, to take a picture of them all together. That will be a posed shot, but it can be fun, just to meet and chat to strangers. They won't be candids, but still different; shots you would otherwise not take.
And yes, I love my photography, but there are very obvious disadvantages to being nearly blind. I have to take many many shots, because I can see the 'general' picture on my lcd screen, but I can't really see the details, till I have them in front of me on my laptop screen! I often find I have 'lucky' things included in my pictures, that I didn't know were there, but also miss out things of course.
