Me again :'(
Installed the Spyder 4 Pro and attempted to calibrate my screen - I have a HP LP2475w.
It told me that the light was too bright, although the screen isn't in direct sunlight, but I told it to carry on as apart from closing the sutters and working in the dark, there wasn't a lot I could do.
Then I was told that I should adjust the backlight to a certain figure but I have no idea how to. :(
I carried on with the calibration but now my screen is very low on contrast and brightness. It looked better with the factory default settings.
Has anyone got the Spyder4?
Any tips?
I have to go take photographs now - I'll have another go later.
Why is nothing easy for PC blonds?
Having an old spider 2 running spyder3 software and not a 4 I could be talking complete rubbish, but I think one of the initial steps is to select the type of monitor e.g. lcd / crt and whether or not it has backlight control. Could you have missed this step ?
I had missed it as after selecting the monitor type you have to hold down the control button when continuing. (I got this off a DLSR Forum in Germany - a few seem to having problems there too)
So I did this and selected "unknown" for the gamma and backlight. But it STILL instructs me to adjust the backlight down to 200 cd from the approx,. 260 cd shown. I'm now trying it with a reduced "brightness" adjustment directly through the monitor controls - however that is only shown at 1 - 100 and not in cd.
I'm getting a bit fed up to be honest.
okay, so it worked with the brightness set at about 70%.
I must say, I don't think the instructions are very clear ...
Everything looks a little subdued - maybe that's how it should be and I should add a little more contrast to my photos.
I'll have to load a few up on the forum and you guys can let me know if they're too bright.
Is anyone else using the Spyder 4 Pro?
I bought it cos I had the Spyder 2 Express and fancied an update ...
