As someone who tries to document protests and demos, when I've got the inclination, posters and placards are all part of the scene. However, no matter how witty or trite the slogan is it's the people who hold and wave them that is the focal point.

I think I could fill a pretty good space with just the placards but I would be afraid of boring people to death, as Simon Roberts did when he came to do a presentation at our club. Not on this subject I might add.

You only have to read his statement and you might form the opinion he is long on words, short on engaging the eye with his photographs, and you may be right.  ::)
