I took my daughters out to see grandma (my mom) on the weekend. We went to the river where they have a "fish ladder" for the fish to get around a damn. The damn at one time was for a small hydro electric generator but has not been used as that in decades. They built the fish ladder in the 1970's to revitalise the river (Ganaraska River, Port Hope, Ontario). They now have one of the largest trout runs in Ontario in the spring as they head upstream to spawn.
I had a hard time with the photos. It was such a dull dark day that I had a hard time getting a fast enough shutter speed while keeping the ISO down. There was another couple there and they both had L series lenses and probably had f/2.8 apertures. Anyway, this is one of the better shots.
I had a go at this with the Salmon last year. Not the easiest thing to photograph are they. :)
No, they are not easy to photograph, especially on dull days!
