Title: Kite Video
Post by: rksmith51 on September 11, 2011, 01:06:42 PM
Not sure if this will work, its a link to some video of the kite climbing into the sky above Aberlady.

Or this one on Facebook

Clicking on one of the links within the text will take you there, I don't know how to edit it.

Thanks for all the interest guys  :).

If you have a point and shoot canon, I use the IXUS 980 for kite flying, there is some software that you may be interested in that runs scripts to control the shutter etc.
I now use a program called SDM to take any number of still shots, then switch to video mode take more stills zoomed in, take more video.... well you get the idea. This could be used for time laps, security etc as well as KAP.

The software is free and as such there is no support other than the forums, but if you have a little basic programing you will get it easily.
Here are a few links to get you going if you want to play with it or have some use, it also gives you things like faster and slower shutter speeds, RAW and loads more that Canon decided not to give you access to.

Whoo, I feel a tad seasick.  I think I'll stick to the still shots. :)

Looks like great fun, and I see that the chap at the DIY photography web site is getting into it now as well: http://www.diyphotography.net/introduction-to-kite-aerial-photography-kap (http://www.diyphotography.net/introduction-to-kite-aerial-photography-kap)
