Title: 7dayshop.com
Post by: krennon on September 05, 2011, 08:21:16 AM
www.7dayshop.com

Have got some great deals on memory cards at the moment, just ordered  a twin pack of kingston 4gb CF cards for £14.49 delivered....can't be bad, no problems using them in the past slow(ish) delivery but prices are normally excellent....

Have always got my memory cards from them. Can't fault them at all.

I've used them for years, just ordered some good old fashioned film from them. If they speeded up their delivery times they'd be even better.

Me too - used them for a long time after my in-laws recommended them and they have been great. In fact, you've reminded me I need to get some new CF & SD cards

I've also been using their printing service - snapmad.com (http://www.snapmad.com) and have to say they have succeeded with this too. Quality, value and service is spot on, been really impressed with them.

You could always pay for the faster service..........  ;)

I too have used them for years (and a cheapskate too, going for free delivery). With every increase in VAT they become ever more attractive (if anyone isn't aware, they don't charge VAT - hence the multiple envelopes as value has to be under £18, I think it is). A word on that score: if you do buy something like a lens, the only proof of VAT paid is the envelope and NOT the receipt!

Read in the weekend press that the offshore non VAT charge on items £18 or under is being looked at closely by Mr Osborne and is likely to be stopped in the near future, so get your bits and pieces in soon!  >:(

Markulous,

I paid for the faster service once, never again, it wasn't much faster, so I have to put up with the longer wait when I use them.

I read it somewhere, the Observer I think, but found this on the web

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/article-2044120/Osborne-end-cheap-CD-Low-Value-Consignment-Relief-VAT-dodge.html

I think the 7 day part of the title refers to delivery time, not the fact they're open 7 days a week! ;)

I think I'll wait for it to be in a real newspaper before worrying about it....

Mmmmm. I suppose there are anomalies in the reporting of facts by newspapers.

I think the Mail on Line has got it right in this instance though.

http://www.tmf-vat.com/tmf-in-the-media/uk-to-close-channel-island-vat-loophole-on-e-retailers.html

From the date of the report it would seem that the proposal has been around for some time.

A month ago I ordered some SD cards from them and they arrived 6 days later.
On Thursday this week I ordered a remote trigger and some other kit and it arrived today (Saturday). Both orders placed with standard delivery.

Yes mate for my D200.
Not tried it in anger yet. It looks cheap to be honest but for the price I expected it to.
Comes with 2 batteries and delivered well packaged. The camera connection pins seem to be a lot sturdier than the last cable release I bought from them
Will give it a go Monday when out down the river mouth.

So the Mail is now half as right as a stopped clock....

TBH it was pretty obvious this was going to happen.  £140 million extra to HMRC* vs 1,700 job losses** of people who can't even vote for the government seems a no brainer.

------
* no, tax doesn't really work like that
** no, job losses don't work like that either

Firstly - Have to say all the footers including users names are pretty nifty...

Secondly - This forum post came up on a Google feed.. I would just like to mention something about 7dayshop as I work for them..

Yes the VAT change will hit us, but we also took a hit November 1st for all products over £15 below £18.. Which surprisingly is the best part of our catalogue. We do have plans in action to combat the VAT change and all of these plans will be live well before the April 1st cut off date..

If you're already on our mailing list I'm sure we will be speaking about it in this, or on our new site early next year.

If anybodies got any questions ill do my best to answer them here!

Thanks

We run some comps now and then if you want to enter or even donate a prize or three  ;D

sam,

anything you can do about speed of delivery? I use it a lot and it is frustratingly slow compared to other online shops.

They're pretty good TBH, been using 7dayshop for years without problems.  Not always the fastest if you need something in a hurry, but good prices and reliable so far.

As for Jessops, I'm surprised they are still around at all.  :knuppel2:
