This years World Wide Photo Walk is being held on 24th July.
Last year over 30,000 people took part in 900 towns all across the world.
I am not associated with the organisers in any way so this should not be construed as an advert. I am organising a walk in Denia, Spain as part of this event this year. If anyone is out here on holiday at that time they are more than welcome to join us.
More details can be found here (http://worldwidephotowalk.com/) and you can see if there is one close to you if you are not holidaying on the Costa Blanca in Spain. ;)
Just signed up for the one in Richmond (on Thames) as there isn't one in Kingston and I haven't got the time to organise one. Looking forward to it and may help me get the old photography juices flowing again....Martin, Abers et al you gonna join me as there is only a few spaces left? ;)
What a wonderful idea, but I'm disappointed to discover, that despite it being Canada's largest city, Toronto has only 1 photowalk going and it's been limited to 50 people so it's already full. :( And a small city called Barrie about an hour north of Toronto has 3 of them!

Sorry Keith, it's the word 'walk' that puts me off. ::)
I organised one of these in Leeds last year and got about 40 people involved. Nice event but back up admin was appalling and seemed intent only on selling adobe training to me. Took 3 months to get my promised Scott kelby book for organising it and the Leeds winner of best image is still waiting for his a year on I discovered last week despite repeated requests. Nowadays we just do our own walks / events through Leeds flickr but it was a good starting point.
You can start another in Toronto if the first is full. Also you can be anarchic and take more than 50 - I had 50 sign up officially but opened up more places through Flickr Leeds group. Just over 40 attended in the day when rain threatened

I figured there could be more than one when I saw Barrie, with a 10th of Toronto's population, had 3. Problem is, I haven't lived in Toronto for 35 yrs. so I have not got a clue where to organize one for. I was hoping that there'd be something that could reintroduce me to the city. As far as my current home, it'd be like one of your new estates no real central town and nothing especially photogenic. (there may be residents of my fair city disagree but I haven't found anything) :(
But it did give me another idea. There's one in the city I'm hoping to retire to soon, maybe I'll sign up for that one!
Anyone know of one near Presto/Blackburn, UK, I would like to go on one

You could always change walk for run if you want! :2funny: :2funny:
Say what you like about SeƱor Kelby - he knows how to market.
I think the Photowalk is a great idea but I hear so many complaints about excessive rules, restrictions and of course the wall to wall marketing by Kelby Enterprises.

Absolutely. All you need is a date, a place and some other people.
BTW there aren't any "official" walks in Kent. Or Essex. What does that say about us? Mind you there's only one in all of France :D.
And yes, I could organise one. But I'm not going to ;)

Exactly - done frequently on this site.
For "walk" read "meet" and you have exactly the same thing - except we've organised a "Walk" or "Meet" in Kent for 3rd July
Richmond CC organise a 'walkabout' each week for the beginners group during July and August, just part of the club's commitment to those club members who are new to photography.
Keith, just put my name down for it...
Martin, text me/pm me re meeting up on Saturday....tried sending a pm but not sure you got it...
Got it, I emailed back. Sure it was the right address?
