If you are in the Richmond, kingston area over Easter you may wish to spend an hour visiting the Richmond and Twickenham P.S. Annual Exhibition in Teddington.

Close to the River Thames at Teddington Locks there are plenty of photo opportunities both upsteam towards Kingston and downstream towards Richmond.
Suggested itinerary, train to Kingston (Sandy the Telephone Box sculpture/installation), leisurly stroll downstream to Teddington locks, 1.5 miles, lunch at the Anglers Pub. Visit the exhibition, some 300 pictures. Back to the towpath, continue downstream to Richmond past Ham Fields, Ham House, Petersham Meadows.Richmond Terrace for the unbeatable views back along the Thames, Richmond Station, back home.
If you make it a midweek trip, I shall be stewarding between 12-3pm Thursday 8th April.
If anyone decides to visit at any time, let me know via p.m and I'll try and meet you there.

There`s a major rail bridge at Norbiton being replaced soon (I think over the easter holiday)

Yep - trains to Shepperton via Kingston and Teddington.
I don't know that part of London well enough to know of alternate routes or how close other stations are.

You can get the District line tube to/from Richmond. And from Clapham Junction you can get a train and bus combination to Kingston. Different options depending on timing and so on (see the link below to the Transport for London Journey Planner for more). So travel shouldn't be a significant problem (hopefully that's not tempting fate!). The main thing I think is to fix a date and plan from there. Having said I can't do Saturday I might be able to change my arrangements with enough notice, if that day is better for others.

Waterloo to surbiton, jump on a 71/281 bus outside the station. You`ll be in kingston town centre in five minutes.

Are you going direct into Kingston Station, or do you want to get to surbiton, and I`ll meet you there?
I`ve had a quick look on Googlemaps so know the route along the river past the Boaters Inn. It is a pretty reasonable walk along the tow path from Kingston to Richmond.

It`s worth noting for Sandy that the walk along the towpath from Kingston to Richmond appears to be about four/five miles (guessing from googlemaps).

If Sandy makes it to the exhibition from Kingston, I'll run her back to Kingston Station. I'll see you at the exhibition, but if there are only four of you I can pick you up at Kingston or Surbiton station and take you to the exhibition.

At this time, we have 4 confirmed visitors - Sandy hasn't been heard from.
I have PM'd her and all we can do is say give it till Sunday and then confirm arrangements for the day.
This was after all a short term arrangement and Sandy may already have other arrangements.

However the Kingston Camera Club exhibition is running from Sat 24th April to Sat 8th May if anyone wants to meet up on Sat 24th let me know we do a shoot round kingston before heading off to the museum, although I may be stewarding as well but that wouldn't be all day...

My daughter is now coming down for Easter with grand son so i will now sadly not be attending - but this makes travel arrangements easier.
For those attending, i would propose catching the 10:43 from Clapham Junction (10:33 from London Waterloo) to Kingston - arrival time 11:16. Here, if the offer is still available, Alan can pick you up and whizz you down to the exhibition at which point you can enjoy some great shots and also get in a bit of socialising and photography!

Those that are making the trip, if you stick to Andrew's travel proposals, I'll meet you outside Kingston station at 11.15. We can then walk through to the 'phone box sculpture for Sandy to get her shots, and of course anyone else who fancies it. From there we'll go to the exhibition.
After that it'll be up to the group which way you want to go, up stream back to Kingston 1.5 miles or downstream to Richmond 2-3 miles approx.
One other alternative is Bushey Park and Hampton Court. I can drop you off in Bushey Park, which is next to Hampton Court, where you can make your way back home via Hampton Court Station, straight into Waterloo.
Anyway let me know how these arrangements suit you. Since Martin is a local he may want to make other arrangements.

I'll be getting there under my own steam because my wife wants to make it a bit of a day out a walk and some lunch or whatever so I hopefully see you all at the exhibition itself
It was lovely to catch up with everyone today and great to meet Rose (Mrs Irv) too. :)
I thought the exhibition was excellent. There's a huge range of images, many of which are very high quality indeed. I think we spent a couple of hours there and I for one don't feel that I saw everything. It was good also to see a number of images from previous years - early Kodachome and black and white images produced by former club presidents. Really added to the mix and contrasted nicely with some of the more recent digital images.
Keith: if you're still thinking of popping along I would highly recommend it.
The exhibition was great it was a same you could not make it Andrew. I enjoyed meeting everyone and having a lovely chat just hope I did not slow anyone down too much.

I echo Eileen's comments of what a good display, of a range of subjects, well produced that was well worth a visit and has certainly nudged me into checking out my local club. Rose was pleased to meet you all and was quite taken with Martins hat :)
Glad to hear all had a great time - not that i really expected any thing different. All meets thus far have brought about a great time.
I have absolutely no doubt that Sandy did not slow any one down. Accommodating Sandy's sower walking pace often allows us to see a picture we would otherwise have missed :tup:

So I FINALLY made it along yesterday.....great exhibition some outstanding work, Alan it was nice to see work by Bryan Collins and Ann Smith on display (both are members of KCC as well) Some outstanding work on display and nice to see your panel with shots from our Speakers Corner shoot. A great exhibition Alan I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I parked at Ham, walked over the bridge at Teddington Lock...and spent a couple of hours there, then back over to the lock for a few shots.....good day weather was FANTASTIC and the mountain bikers near the lock were something else. Oh and for those that might be interested the Landmark Arts Centre was the Church that the band AHA shot the video for "The Sun Always Shines On TV" in...

Managed to get to the exhibition myself yesterday. Quite an eclectic mix of images. Spurred me on to think about joining a club and maybe even have a go at the LRPS!

Nick do it just join a club, most clubs will let you go along for a couple of weeks or so before committing to joining, I've got about 4 clubs within a 7 mile radius or so of me, I chose Kingston as it was kind of the closest and I was made to feel very welcome, and I have learnt a lot from being there.
Dunno whereabouts in the country you are but I would recommend joining a club and then try for the LRPS (which is what I am planning on doing probably next year now as funds are tight at the moment)
I'm based in central london. I plan to join the RPS and then take things from there. I'll have to improve my image taking I think before applying for the LRPS!

Kingston Camera Club (one of the oldest camera clubs in the UK) is holding its ANNUAL EXHIBITION from Saturday 24th April through to Saturday May 8th at The Art Gallery, Kingston Museum, Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey (The museum is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays)
As well as my own panel of prints there will be some absolutely outstanding photographs on display from members of the club so if you can find the time come and poke your head in the door, I will be there on Sat 24th April from Noon stewarding the display, so if you happen to be in KoT pop in and say hello, entry is free.
It sounds great, however I have already booked Sat. Iam going to London Zoo to see the new rain forest section.

Popped in today to see the Kingston exhibition and very enjoyable it was to. Young Keith doing his stewarding duties and welcoming a steady flow of visitors. Thanks for the welcome Keith. Liked your image of stones and sand, nice colours and composition as well as being very gritty.

The exhibition is running until the 8th May, the museum is closed on Sun & Weds, and the exhibition room is closed on the 6th & 7th May between noon and 2:30pm for some book reading sessions or something like that. If anyone can pop along please do so, it's free entry and and there is a wide variety of work on display...
