For those interested in Orchids, the Tropical Extravaganza at Kew Gardens will be on show from 6th February - 7th March 2010.
Check for any photographic restrictions before setting sail. Tripods might be a NO NO.
Thanks for the heads up Alan.
Could be a meet involved for us flower heads.
Tripod rules at Kew Gardens are rather simple. Officially they are not allowed without a permit.
However, the rule is not strictly adhered to and staff work on a policy of "You are not allowed to use a tripod where it will obstruct peoples access" which very much means any of the glass houses should involve a bit of common sense as to when and where to use a tripod. To my knowledge the Lilly House is the only place where use of a tripod really is pushing your luck due to the very narrow walk way around the Lilly Pond.
I have used a tripod in almost every location except the Lilly House and never been told to stop using it by staff because i've always considered other visitors in my actions.
There are also butterflies in the glasshouse at Wisley until the 28th Feb

Are you suggesting another possible trip Sandy?
It would be a nice place to go not sure about public transport thou

Ooo thanks for the heads up.
By coincidence a shoot for a client who lives 2 miles from Kew has just been rearranged to 8th Feb.
I might just pop along.
