Currently getting annoyed by my colour calibration software - it (spyder 5 express) continually tells me the monitor is out of cal - even on the day I re-do it...

anglefire

My calibrator broke - out of warranty and they couldn't give a stuff at the time - color munki was the make. Not impressed as it wasn't cheap. Was only a microswitch that wasn't making but couldn't get it apart enough to repair it.

Rain rain, nothing but blooming rain.
Got the mower out to mow the lawn as it was nice, within seconds the heavens opened.
Yesterday lighting the BBQ was a trauma as everything was wet.
Exactly the same the day before.  :( :( >:( >:(

Windows 10 latest update.
Its updated itself and gave me something I dont recognise or find user friendly
Al my pictures, documents, downloads had gone missing from the hard drive folder. (later found on the network )???

I cant roll back to a restore point.
I am told if I use recovery option it will take me to a version of W7 ?  I bought machine a few months ago with W10 so I dont understand the reference to W7.

I no longer have a start menu as before and the tiles is now default which I hate
Some of my programmes like Lightroom 4 have gone or will not launch
My security progs no longer appear grouped on the task bar and need to be launched via the tiles as admin ?
Getting more and more pissed off with this
First rant over

I had a similar problem twice; a while ago now and hope it does not return for a third time. In the end (on both occasions) I ended up saving all my docs & image files to a separate storage device, before wiping the hard drive & re formatting the PC, installing the latest version of Windows10 via a link provided by Microsoft support.

On the second time round, I was told by Microsoft that the problem was most likely arising from or due to conflicts being inadvertently created within third party programs (including antivirus ones) and since then I just use those they advised would be sufficient.

My machine was updated from Windows 8 originally, and when it went the second time it came up with the Windows7 option you mentioned; so I guess the Windows 10 version you have is an earlier one rather than the very Latest build version.

Also when I carried out the repair first time round, I deleted the Old Windows file (that is automatically created by installing the latest version) thinking it was the sensible thing to do - Second time round I just left it where it was, as I was told that it would be automatically dealt with by the Latest version all in due time.

Thanks for the reply.
So annoying this. If I you knew it was so a major update I would have backed up prior and put it back a bit until I researched it.
All I got was a prompt via my bullguard security telling me a security update needed to happen so I let it go.   3 hrs later it was finishing. :o
Ive lost all my libraries and settings in LR4 and DXO pro so will have to start from scratch there.

Daft things like trying to close the settings windows via the esc key no longer happen. Ive had to start again with firefox and bookmarks etc as well. Even the keyboard stopped working for a spell and only came back after a reboot.
May have to do a clean install after backing up best I can

Can i have a quick moan on here PLEASE.

Drivers, now most of the time i accept that there are too many cars on our roads nowadays but the thing that gets me iOS the following.

As it was raining here yesterday and this morning it is people that park on bends, on double yellow lines, on school zig zags as they cannot possibly get wet due to the shrinking process.

Around me schools are the worst, little Johnny or whoever obviously has no legs as he has to be dropped off at the school gate not even just down the road, this blocks up the road and obviously it is the other driver that is in the wrong not the goldfish that is doing the dropping off.

Rant Over but i can think of loads more.

Golly, I seem to have got off lightly. We have 3 Windows 10 machines and haven't had an issue with this update with any of them. As far as I can tell everything is running as before.

Just ran LR4 to check as you mentioned that; I usually use ACDSee these days, but LR4 opened perfectly OK.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Don't think it's possible to roll back to 7 if you've never had it on there, was it originally updated from win 7?  Or bought new with 10?

Its a strange one Mick. Another forum told me same thing, and now I can not replicate the message no matter what I try.
The machine is new in september and is bundled with W10 home.
Ive actually found a restore point via the control panel route and will try that. The W10 settings route asks me to delete an account before proceeding and that account is mine the only account present so I dont know whats going on there

In my humble... it sounds like an antivirus based conflict where Start up and Registered user files have been overwritten & or mashed up somehow; just as I had. And after days of fluffing around without much joy in 'short term repairs that promised to cure the problem' I gave up; Removed the Hard drive so it could be completely cleaned ready for a new fresh installation via Microsoft support.

Only a minor irritation in the grand scheme of things, so possibly more bemused, although I am not best pleased. My 15 year old Husqvarna chainsaw packed up, so I put it in for repair. In the meantime I bought a cheap no-name Chinese one to cover the gap. The repairs to the Husqvarna cost more than the stop gap Chinese one to buy.

On the other hand, the Husqvarna will probably still be going in another 10 years, whereas el cheapo almost certainly won't.

WAMT?
Actually yesterday. Went arse over elbow whilst out shooting a waterfall.
Camera (nik d7100) took most of the impact smashing the mode dial and now will need a repair. Seen a similar mode dial on line for 24gbp but then its the fitting of it.
Had one quote of 240gbp   (1staidrepairs who I have used before )  seems a bit steep.
WEX will charge 85gbp just to look at it and after I pay postage
Anyone recommend a repair centre ?
