What annoyed you today?

What annoyed me was getting a cold.  Wife and I set off on 5 day Caribbean cruise. She had had a cold the week prior. I naturally avoided her. Didn't work, started getting sick the day after we set sail.  Bunch of excursions we'd signed up for got cancelled due to lack of interest. Normally I'd have been upset, but since I was lacking energy I was quite content to lay in a lounge chair and bask in the sun with a cold bevy in hand. 

Friend of mine went for a flu jab and it gave her the flu! Its took a week for her to get better.

Funny I stopped getting the flu jab 3/4 years ago for the same reason Oldboy. Told the doctor of my thoughts and he said no - just not possible the way the jab is developed but seemed t do that to me. I`ve bragged every year that I`ve not even had a cold since stopping it - then this year I got the flu which triggered my balance issues and was ill for a week or more with flu and then 3/4 weeks with balance issues. That`ll teach me!

WAMT? last night actually. I tried 4 times last night to post on the forum, using a laptop running Win 10 and MS's new browser Edge(?). Every time I tried the browser locked up. This was right after the "this website uses cookies" pop up appeared. I don't know if the issue is Win 10, Edge or the cookies here on CC.

Annoyance number three. Took a Nikkor lens into a repair shop to be fixed. They emailed me an estimate for repair and time frame, 5 to 10 days. Like the tablet mentioned above, that was a month or more ago. Called yesterday and was told the repair was taking longer than anticipated but the tech wasn't at work and someone would call today with an explanation. No call. This is more annoying that the tablet because this repair shop isn't in my hometown but in a neighbouring city. If I have to visit them for a face to face I'll really be annoyed.  What's the saying bad things come in threes?

After a month, I get an email telling me they can't fix the lens after all. Too old, Nikon no longer makes the parts and the part that needs attention is a sealed unit.

I've posted the last two messages from a PC with an i5 CPU and 16 gigs ram running Win10. I do not recommend you put it on an older machine like my lappy. It's got a ferocious appetite for memory and for reasons I don't understand, the new Edge browser is eating up ram when ever I got to a new tab. What annoys me most, is that I can't roll back to Win 7 because they only gave you a 30 day window to do so. My Win 7 licence is now defunct. I feel like I've been scammed even if the software was free.

When I use Edge to visit CC, the spellchecker does not work, nor can I use Italics or Bold script.
Using Google Chrome now, which works fine.

Annoyance number two. Put my Samsung Tablet into a local ( as in same city, not down the road) repair shop for battery replacement about a month ago. They said it's going to take 5 days. Now almost a month later they haven't called. I've now called them twice and left my number, no call back. It's annoying in two respects, now I will have to drive down to the city centre, which is not close to have a face to face. 2nd aspect is, I wouldn't have had to do any of this if Samsung Canada hadn't refused my repair because I bought the tablet off and American company over the internet. It wasn't a warrantee issue, and I can't imagine the Canadian version being different from the American, we're just not that sizable a market. But they ran the serial number and just handed it back to me claiming they couldn't touch it. 

Weather was nicer today, no hurricane remnants, so I took a drive down to my city centre to speak to the repair people. The place was all locked up. I guess that's why they aren't returning my calls. Don't know if they've done a runner, or the landlord has locked them out, but looks like I'm out a tablet now too.

WAMT? The usual, idiots on computer forums. Some guy asking on Apple forum how to roll back from El Capitan because he doen't like it. I read the discussion because I wanted to do the same. El Capitan is buggy as hell on my iMac. So, some Fanboy suggests just to use Time Machine. Fair enough except I read on another 'unofficial' Apple forum that you can't, so I say, let us know how it worked because... Fanboy then gets insulting. I aske him if he tried it and his idiot answer is "no, more to the point have you?" Of course I haven't, that's why I'm asking, don't want to screw up my system trying something untested. I'm thinking the writer on the other site has tried and it didn't work, or has access to information the rest of us don't. HATE FANBOYS can't reason with them and they throw hissy fits if you question their OS.

I never give advice unless I've done it myself. 

Went onto the Win 10 tech support site to get answers to the problems having the laptop I've posted about. I read all the suggested fixes and none of them worked. My issue did not fit exactly to the problems they were trying to resolve. So I posted what my issue was and ended with the codicil that I've tried all the fixes suggested so please don't reply with one of the canned answers. What do I get, the canned answer. I repost something along the lines of, did you not read my post? I specifically said don't send me a canned answer I've tried them all. Some jerk responds telling me to loose the attitude. I've probably got myself banned with my response to him. C'est la vie.

Can't comment on Egde's memory use, as it won't run in my installation, along with a number of other 'apps' in the start panel. It's been like that since the upgrade and although I have raised the issue with MS support and my friend who works for them still the 'problem' persists. Although, of course, it doesn't bother me at all, as long as the DAWs and Photoshop work, which they do.

The other day an message appeared on my PC saying Edge couldn't handle something, and gave me the choice of changing back to IE which I did.

Just use IE11, it's still there in Windows 10.  Start > All apps > Windows Accessories > Internet Explorer.  Right click and add to taskbar.

To make it your default browser. Start > Settings > System >Default apps.

Ok, turned on IE, see how it works. So far so good got two full sentences written out without issue. I wonder if the issue is with the cookies.

Discovered a FB page, but it's had no activity since mid July. I posted on it anyway asking the fellow if he's gone out of business.

Oh and that's not the half of it. Oct. has not been kind to me. I can't find my Cell Phone since returning home. I think it might have dropped out of my pocket at Orlando Airport. I've called all the lost and found people. The airport, the cruise line the bus company that transferred us. No luck.
