The satisfaction of pricing up loads of stuff to sell on our charity stall after all the hours spent producing it. Still lots to do through the winter - new lines always being added!!

What a great thread - the timing was perfect.
Sadly, the Americans can do dumb and blond much better than any girl from Essex with a light hair colour (light fuse paper and stand well back)

My favourite was "Yu from Englund? We've got frends in Edinbur - do you no them?" - of course deliberately written in English for Idiots.
Always brings a smile...

Very funny.... and it comes from the nation with either the largest or second largest pile of nukes and more religious zealots than Afganistan.... :-\ :-\

I've heard of some Americans thinking they could tour the UK in one day, stopping off to do some sight-seeing at such places like the Lake District, York, Chester, Wales, etc...

Mind you  my Nan went to stay with her son in Boston, he asked if there was anything she'd like to do whilst there and she replied "I'd like to see the Grand Canyon...." She was quite surprised when she found out it was further away than the UK was at that point... They do live on a different scale to us and are often prepared to drive distances that you'd never want to do here just for a night out

Hey, I've seen americans drive up to Toronto, in July, with Ski's and ask where the snow was. My brother was in the Rockies in Aug. once during a Freak snowstorm and heard one american say to another "I told you it snows all the time in Canada". Then there was the time I visited friends in North Carolina in Oct. and the conversation turned to the leaves changing colour and a woman asked "do you have trees in Canada?".
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

When it comes to americans abroad, in general I find them much better educated and able to appreciate being in a different country, now the brits abroad, I could write some harsh words here, insert your own.. how many times have I had to reply to them saying "but in the UK".. yes but your NOT in the UK are you!

Nemesis

I still recall the conversation at Stonehenge between two American tourists a few years back while they were walking round listening to the audio guides, she commented that it was built in a commanding position on the hill, to which he replied
"Yeah, and right next to the highway for when they hauled in the stones" - I kid you not....

Americans at Sacre Cour when we were on our honeymoon walking up the tightest narrowest spiral staircase set within one of the columns...."Geez you'd have thought they'd have put an elevator in by now".....yep no comprehension of historic building/monuments etc as they don't have any...my cousins live in San Antonio and not that far from the The Alamo.....wait for it.....they KNOCKED DOWN the original Alamo.....built a shopping mall on the site....and hey presto a few years later they built a replica Alamo pretty much next door...... ??? ::)

WMMFGT....last night....my print of Cooling Off (it's in my gallery) got 9/10 in the monthly print comp  well chuffed....entering it next week into the inter club comp hopefully it'll get picked by the selection panel....Abers don't tell anyone at New Malden.... ;)

Part exchanged my  Nikkor 28-70 2.8 for the new 24-70 2.8
The old girl was past her best and becoming a little unreliable in the focusing department (Somthing I can't afford with the gigpicery!).
I was going to offer her up here but I like you all too much! :D

Overheard in a lift in a London Hotel one evening, conversation between two pairs of Americans.

"Where'd you go today?"

"We visited the Hall of the Royal Alberts!".

They are clips from a News Satire program that runs on our CBC network. It's a feature called 'Talking to Americans"

That is just hilarious. The small boy was the star. So there may be some hope, unless he has the knowledge knocked out of him.

I now have 4 shiny new tires on my truck, all set for those winter snows. Stumbled on a tire sale while in purchasing Gasoline Stabilizer for my lawnmower that is now parked and buried under patio furniture.
