Thanks for the votes. Nice to see a wide range of entries. I am trying to push myself to do more weekly comps as I seemed to get out of the habit. Must admit this was a rather hurried one from a weekend visit to my old mum up in Newcastle for Mother`s day. She`d hate it if she knew I`d used it for a comp as she likes it to be the smiling / well dressed approach and I got her as I arrived. Her eyes are very dark as she is virtually  blind now due to blood clots behind each eye and the lighting was very flat with what I had so needed a bit of processing touch. I`d love to do better lit shots of her emphasizing her earned lines due to age. She is 87 now and despite my title mentally alert though pretty much immobile due to other health issues that confine her to a wheelchair. The amazing thing I noticed this visit was that she has one side of her face quite well defined with age lines and the other side (left) is really smooth and different - looks burned out on the picture but a very different texture. I`ll have to persuade her to pose for me properly and take more gear up there but thanks again for the votes and my thinking cap is on!

Congratulations Jinky, or Paul, as I just discovered.
Nice shot of your mother. Black and white seems to work particularly well with wrinkled faces. Must try a selfie one of these days!

I too have fallen out of the habit of entering competitions, but I've been very busy elsewhere, and still with photography.
