Alf, You going wired, or wireless??  Wired will cost you up to a tenner for a network cable.  Wired will set you back about £50 for a Xbox 360 Wireless N Network Adaptor.

Cheapest Xbox 360 wireless N adaptor I have seen is actually from Argos £39.99 See Here

i'm led to believe that hardened gamers frown upon wireless, my brother plays online with xbox live and was just about to save the underworld when he lost connection. :'(

Must admit we have ours wired directly to the router.  But we are considering going wireless, just to get some peace and quiet.  ::)  It's a bloomin nightmare watching the telly when our son's playing guitar hero, etc.  >:( That clicking noise from the guitar really gets on your nerves after a while.

Alf, ours is wireless & the kids are set up in the bedroom - we never see them I am not sure if thats a good or bad thing. I often hear complaints of lag & they come through and reset the router but that might be a server issue. I have never had a wired set up so nothing to compare with. The drum kit is very annoying the constant tap, tap, tap of plastic on plastic can travel through walls so if they have headphones on this is all that can be heard.

We can get lag with the wired setup sometimes.  With the multiplayer stuff it seems dependent on whoever got the slowest connection.

As for the constant tapping noise I have to say the guitar is the same, it's got a really loud micro switch setup on the strum paddle.   This will change soon as the later versions of these games will involve a real guitar.  This way people will actually learn the guitar as they play. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1098680p1.html

I believe there's going to be a keyboard too.

Prepare for youtube to be swamped with budding guitarists.  ;)

Ps: Simon.  Hopefully that tapping noise won't turn into a real drum set.  The neighbours are gonna love this stuff.  ???

The present set up is. Router and 2 pcs upstairs in 1 room (wired)
My lappy (un wired) and xbox downstairs (with drum kit) connected to the 42" screen.
Laddo wants to go on line to play his pals on COD etc
Later I intend to put the xbox upstairs in room 2 when I can get another large screen and decorate room, ( I intend to treat myself to a Wi when me rendundo comes through) so wired will not be an option.
Im suprised that network adapter is battery operated, I thought maybe mains or power off usb would be the norm?
Going to send the leg iron off to argos to pick one up
cheers guys

  Sorry mate, I didn't realise there was going to be a price increase.  I was going to get one as well.   >:(

I notice they now have a compatible one @ £39.99 Never seen those before, and not sure if they are any good. (Powered by the console though).

They Also had compatible headsets for £4.99 now they are double the price.  They normally only last a few weeks before they stop working, and the cheap ones last just as long as the Microsoft ones.  :'(

Did'nt work out that well cos she had my credit card.
It will be the grandson playing online via the xbox. Mainly the COD series and NFS.

Ive just put COD 4 and MW2 on my PC so will have a dabble with them on line if I can master the basics. Had a quick go and graphics etc are really impressive
