Time...time alone to experiment, time with other enthusiasts to get ideas/techniques, time in front of the computer to play with PSP and edit the shots, time ... pure and simple.

I could be here all night!  ;)

Top of the list is a battery grip and an EF17-40mm f4L for my newly acquired 5D... I was thinking about the 5D MKII but I'm not sure if I can justify it... Whatever happens, my 400D and the Olympus E400 and lenses will be going soon.

After that, it'll be an EOS 7D if it pans out to be as good as initial reports show. I can't find anything about it so far that I don't like (apart from the price).  ;D

To get either I would have to come out of retirement and earn some money or win the lottery ;)

NOTHING IS WORTH GOING BACK TO WORK FOR!!!!!! ::) ::)

I'm up for the time to go and experiment.
I suspect each of us has the talent if we have the time to pursue our hobby.
I'm either too busy doing the day job or tooo knackered when i'm not - shift work makes you loathe to stay out late or get up early if you can avoid it!

As for physical tangeable kit - the 100-400 L would be nice or a 400 f5.6 L. A battery grip would also be nice.

If we're talking lottery win level - i'd need time to think about what would be necessary as opposed to what could be afforded for the sake of it!

I don't know about others but I find it much easier when I don't have a big choice of what to use - one camera and 2 or 3 lenses - perhaps extra ones for specialist stuff if funds allow - otherwise it would be dark before I decided which combo to take out ::)

Totally agree Sue, now I have the D300 I am a happy bunny, my equipment consists of Nikon 70/200 VR, Nikon 105 VR macro, Nikon 18/70 (much underated lens), SB800 Flash, bits to get the flash to front of lens  & extension tubes, that's it and if I'm honest I don't feel I really need anything else.  I do buy other bits but they get sold on as I find I don't need them, I can carry what I have around all day if necessary.
Only thing I would wish for is 100 ISO on the D300
Two things are infinite : the universe and human stupidity; I'm not sure about the universe

I`m pretty lucky, got most of the kit I need minus the 600mm F4 L IS... ;D

Next upgrade will be a 7D I think.

As previously mentioned, I`d quite like the time to use it too!

I could've sworn I replied to this thread. Maybe it was a similar thread in some other forum... hmm.

Wish list?

  • A Voigtlander R3a, with a Nokton 35mm f/1.2 lens
  • A Canon A1, with a 50mm f/1.4 lens
  • A battered (but still useable) Leica LTM camera body.
  • A Panasonic LX3
  • An Epson R-D1s rangefinder camera (a Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 lens wouldn't go amiss here ;) )

At the moment I just wish I had my 70-300mm vr back from Mr. Nikon - functioning again ::)

Nothing. Honestly. I've got all I need for now.

Love the D60, and don't think I'll need to 'upgrade' for a bit. Don't think I will, either, until the day that Nikon's cheapest in their line up has a CMOS sensor.

Trying film for the first time in years, and you can get some bargains, like a £30 Nikon F60, mint condition (although prices of stuff like the F3 are going through the roof). £50 for a mint Nikon FE!

I kind of like playing with the old Nikon kit, picking stuff up from ebay that looks interesting. Got myself a 135mm prime the other day. How long has it been since I used one of those!

Perhaps I might get a 120 roll film camera (be4ch was saying he was keen to get one of those last time he and I went for a beer).

I got Lightroom the other day, which is terrific, as I needed something that would let me process lots of shots quickly.
