Look on the bright side - he said he'd rather drink poison than come here :D :D

To be fair Sue, I think that most of us would rather he drank poison than came here.  ;)
Oh Lord, please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

While he might rather drink poison than join CC, it is possible to view the contents of these forums as a guest.

My comment with regards to the little blue pill was more a (perhaps too) subtle attempt at linking the right honourable member that is kept inflated by the pill, and its more common streetwise vernacular,  with the said right dis-honourable gentleman, i.e. they can be referred to by the more crude version of rooster.

Ahhh - but can a guest assign 1 star to all the competitions pictures?

Oh those far off days when DCM was still full of energy and aspirations of a new dawn - if memory serves - Tim Wallace was still just a keen amateur!

....and I seem to recall  a post by Mr.Ryan saying he was thinking of branching out into wedding photography.... ::)

:D LOL Yes, Didn't he ask for work opportunities at one stage? :2funny:

ABERS

The end of the beginning, or the begininning of the end?

Perused the galleries on P Radar first thing this a.m., got up early and couln't sleep.
The first 4 pages (200 images) managed to evoke 4 comments (2%).

The fourth page, 50 images, had 21 images from 1 photograher (42%) 11 from another (22%) 6 from another (12%) and 5 (10%) from another, a total of 86% from just 4 photographers. What a shambles that they will allow such flooding of the galleries.

The forums are dying, 20 posts yesterday excluding those that asked for equipment advice and the majority were from CC members.

Can it last? :-\

Take my hat off to you Abers, I can't work out how to actually view the galleries (of individual contributors that is). In fairness I have only spent one or two seconds trying to find out.

Sad as it is to say - i'm not that bothered whether it succeeds or fails.
As previously said - this site is what DCM should have become!

I just looked at the thumbnails not each individual gallery. It was early! :-[

I regret the passing of DCM as it was, as it gave me a huge boost in my confidence to hold a camera in the first place, I don't see me really going back to PR, don't like the look, the layout and particularly the rights grab....
What I did like was the couple of meets we did so I got to meet Ingrid, Martin, Alan (Abercrombie sir "doffs cap, tugs forelock & bows whilst reciting "we're not worthy we're not worthy we're not worthy"  ;)) Eileen, et al and there was a sense of on-line community about it, which has now gone with the advent of Photo Radar.....then lo n behold here we are on CC and two weeks ago or so we had another meet organised through here where I met yet more like minded photogs.......and we had a blast.....so I reckon we should be grateful to DC (in it's original format) for bringing us together.....and even more grateful to our very own Dungeon Master for controlling his dungeon here on CC and having had the foresight to set up in the first place and getting us together.....

As Abers has already said, the PR forums are struggling for life. It seems that Future got too greedy, saw a chance of making a bit more money (somehow), and then bit off more than it could chew.

Personally, I find the forums nearly unusable because of the way the site now renders/draws in Firefox 3. Where before, the top menubar was split in two, there's now something (dunno what) covering the second half of the still split menubar, along with the rest of what looks like the top-half of the pages. So, no adverts for myself, but that's nothing of my own doing... that's down to the sheer ineptness of the website developer/maintainer.

Hmm... I'll use the word "maintainer" loosely.

And I know I've said this before, but... all the site needs is a slight tweak to the code... mainly removing the stupid line of code that tells web browsers that the menubar is in two parts, and not one part (which works 100% here).

I sorely wanted PR to work. With a section dedicated to lenses, the chances of actual technical posts were unlimited, but that section seems to only attract "What lens shall I buy?", and "Is this lens any good?" type posts. As for the laughable 'beta testing' stage, all help and advice fell on deaf ears, the people at Future only seemed to want congratulatory posts... they seemed to be flummoxed when it came to solving any website-related problems, which is what beta testing is really all about. Any solutions that involved something other than photoshop being involved... talk to a brick wall... it's easier.

So, really, I'm not that fussed about my username not being allowed on to the site (I can't log in, I can't reset my password, but apparently I'm not banned ??? ). And I suspect those brave souls who venture into the gallery are well aware of Theseus..
QuoteAs soon as Theseus entered the Labyrinth, he tied one end of the ball of string to the door post and brandished his sword which he had kept hidden from the guards inside his tunic.

....and have they noticed that Stan's back??? ::)
