Mines due for renewal in April - the wifes went up about £20 this year.

Managed to collect 3points this year - but hasn't affected my insurance yet. Hopefully it won't at renewal time. Expecting about £500 though.

Insurance is dearer in France Keith. But there is no road tax, so net it is cheaper to keep a car on the road.  My weekend 'toy' car is a 400bhp 180mph beasty, and that only* costs me €800 a year fully comp, including breakdown recovery.

*'only' slips so easily off of the tongue doesn't it? It's a lot of money.

Went out at 09:30 and arrived back at 17:45, so plenty of time to enjoy a cloud free day.  ;D

Learning the Olympic cycle time trial route, it goes past both ends of our road Perhaps we shall get all the pot-holes fixed, otherwise they'll have to do it on mountain bikes. ::)

Irv, Krennon's right. Put you and your wife on the insurance and it should come down. They wanted 4 grand for my daughter, with me and my wife it's 'only' just over 2 grand. I've been with CIS for years and they wanted a grand for me on my car. That's with 75% no claims protected. Tried AVIVA and it's now 566 pounds! Exactly the same cover. It's worth shopping around.

We now have a chauffeur my lad  passed his driving test  today :fworks3: I'm really chuffed for him but it all comes at a cost £4400 for insurance on a 12 year old Ford Focus which is only worth £1500 :o

Well done to your lad.

Insurance is a bit of a joke but I can understand why.

Saw that on the news last night start/finish at Hampton Court good luck trying to get out anywhere as well when that's on, and will they give you  a couple of free tickets I wonder....Oh well I suspect the roads will be worse than when the Flower Show is on as well which means Kingston and Surbiton will be a nightmare as well...I may have to leave the county when the Olympics are on as traffic is going to be a NIGHTMARE  >:(  Isles of Scilly maybe....

Going to the Museum of London 'Street Photography through the Ages' exhibition.
It was absolutely stunning. Real street photography through the ages. When I say real street photography, each image illustrated something about the person/s, the places, the activities and the atmosphere of London throughout the time span, not just images of people in the street as we so often see today.

The place was crowded with people of all ages.

Two pictures stick in my mind. One a group of people outside a pub in the East End with a character called 'Hooky Harry' and another of a West Indian immigrant from the '50's ironically holding a carrier bag with the name Powell on it.

If you are interested in this genre of photography, it's a must visit. I'll definitely be back.

Incidently there was a panel of fourfrom a project undertaken in the '60's by my camera club and taken into the Museum's archives.

Sounds fantastic Alan. How long does it run for?
