Golly, I seem to have got off lightly. We have 3 Windows 10 machines and haven't had an issue with this update with any of them. As far as I can tell everything is running as before.

Just ran LR4 to check as you mentioned that; I usually use ACDSee these days, but LR4 opened perfectly OK.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

My update took three hours but didn't have any problems since. My guess is Bull Guard caused the
problem. When you got the message about the update should have disabled Bull Guard. I have Mcafee  which is now owned by Intel which work closely with Microsoft.

I also had the recent update and once again transpired back to blue screen error ! In brief, the update worked but knocked out the keyboard as a Driver migrated !  Contacted the support team and a remote mode rollback caused the crash to blue screen and I am currently awaiting Technician level 2 assistance to get it hopefully running again.

I had followed Microsoft agent advice re 3rd party progs (after previous crash) & stuck to Windows Defender. So with the migration of keyboard driver this time round; my guess is that not every computer in the millions that exist are going to be completely in harmony with Windows 10 (especially if some may have older components used in their build like mine which originally came as a Windows 8 machine). Luck of the draw?  :-\

If you need to use system restore then I suggest you do as I did and use the "old" route of going through the control panel rather than the "new" W10 way of the all settings tiles.
The latter would not work or even display a restore date.

My second W10 machine has just taken the update overnight. Im yet to check what is and what not is working.
Taking some deep breaths before looking.

The only system restore available did not work and following the Remote mode I literally cannot get Windows to start up even in safe mode. Guess other drivers may be effected  or affected :-\  Tech department are due to callback at sent advice time hopefully.

What a nightmare. Our three machines updated without a noticeable hitch - a 6 year old laptop that was originally W7, my home built bitsa machine which was also originally W7 and Mrs H's year old W10 laptop.

There's always Ubuntu . .

Good luck with getting it sorted.

Yes third time crash on Windows 8 / 10 , so thinking seriously about other options that may be available to stop all the down time, stress & added expense .

Im not impressed with their communications and service to be honest.
They have had the cam 2 weeks now so I mailed for an update. They are awaiting parts. The web site states they have the largest collection of spares for Nikon and Canon and my problem is a damaged mode dial, hardly something too technical surely. Will not give me an estimate of when parts or repair so Ive asked for it to be sent back to me. They aint replying.
I should have read more of the reviews really, lots of bad ones on communicating, never answer phones etc.

Even before they took camera I had UPS turn up to collect but Lehmanns had NOT sent me any paperwork etc.
I wont be using them again for sure.

Certainly sounds like pretty shoddy service. Fingers crossed it's sorted soon.
May the Force be with you.

Must admit, I've always used Canon at Elstree whenever I've sent my gear back for repair/upgrade etc - always a fixed price - even my flash gun that I dropped on a shoot was repaired at a fixed cost. To be fair I am a CPS member so get quick turn around around a week - in Monday back Friday - (Though not sure for how much longer as I only have 1 qualifying body now :( )

I do need to get my 1Dx serviced as I've had it 3 years or so and its not even had the sensor cleaned (Does need it TBF)
