To Adobe - and it's goodbye from me . .

I've decided to bite the bullet and cancel my Adobe sub for Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom has been malfunctioning for some time (I think from about three updates ago) It no longer recognises video files and even some jpgs. As for Photoshop, again starting from a few updates ago, Nik no longer works 100% and every time it updates I have to reinstall or move all my 3rd party plugins. I'm using ACDSee as my DAM and when Affinity is finally released for Windows I'll buy that and get a sophisticated editor back. In the meantime I'll be using Photoplus X8 and Elements 11.

Thought you were leaving us for a second then! I never made the jump and happily cope with PS CS6,the last disc supplied version and Lightroom3.4. Since getting the new PC a couple of months back I was able to download the free Nik software again and find that all aspects work perfectly with CS6 which is an improvement on prevoius experience with Windows 7 and the same software. That said I`ve never used the the components that were faulty anyway. I get less and less inclined to use the wide variety of software I have available to me these days. less is more sometimes. I`m sure you`ll manage  ;)

Amended the title :)

ACDSee Ultimate 10 is the DAM I shall be going for when I can afford the upgrade from the base version - I did a trial and it's really good, miles faster than Lightroom. Not as sophisticated in many ways, but more than enough for me.

It's Photoshop I shall miss. But as you say, less is more sometimes.

ACDSee is the software I got with my very first digital camera, a Pentax Optio X.
I, very occasionally, still use it on my old Vista laptop. It had some features, I used regularly for my 'creative editing.'

My PSE 11 is getting very frustratingly slow, after editing a couple of photos. Went through the trouble of uninstalling, and reinstalling it, but it did not get any better.

I may have a look at ACDSee again.
