Who wanted dry roasted with their pint?

I'm sure this is just the beginning of 'unintended consequences' of Google Earth.  ::)
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Oldboy

I did hear a suggestion that councils over here where going to use Google to see how big any extentsions people made on there houses, as that would alter their rateable value.  :o

Jonathan

1. Some people broke the law
2. The council found a cheap way to make them pay

I can't honestly figure out what the story's about.

Just for fun anybody want to draft the alternative stories about
1. Council ignoring illegal building by the rich while slamming the poor
2. Council wasting $xxx on planes to look for infringers when they could just have Googled it
It's Guest's round

Let's not forget, we're talking about the U.S. here. Where anti-gov't intrusion is a religion of sorts. The writer is just playing to an existing audience.

Here's a great article on privacy and big brother:

It also refers to one of my shots, which I find flattering but it would have been nice if they'd told me...

ABERS

I remember this from way back Chris. I think it was one of the first images I commented on when I joined Flickr or the old DCM site. At least they gave you an accreditation. Well done

I'm not sure how many are aware, but many cars carry, effectively, a black box recorder. So, in the event of a crash, it is possible to determine speed, breaking, steering angles and all sorts of interesting stuff!

Not sure how much would be admissible as evidence in a court case, as I'm not sure how its stored.
