Being dragged around the sales today and realising that you either have to  have a 20" waist and an inside leg of some 35", or the other way round if you have any chance of finding some strides at a 'knock down' price. :uglystupid2:

P.S. Bumped into about 2000 strangers but didn't have my camera with me. ;)

Day three - hand and wrist still too swollen to wear my watch. I'm not a great fan of waspy things.  :(

Actually Tuesday for me.
Every Tuesday & Thursday I have to take my daughter to college. I leave home on the East Coast Of Lincolnshire and travel over the Wolds to a place called Toynton which is quite close to Conningsby, so seeing low flying Eurofighters/typhoons is commonplace.

On my outward journey I spotted a barn owl  searching for breakfast, so I stopped the car to watch the owl which came within just a few feet of me where it dropped to the ground to seize it's breakfast. Now where is my camera, yes you've guessed, still at home.
Missed a golden opportunity, but more was to follow on the return journey a very low flying typhoon almost blew me off the road. Knowing that they usually operate in pairs I quickly stopped the car and got out just in time to see the second typhoon hurtle past. I've never seen typhoons operating at such low levels before, I estimate around 100ft.

I'm still ruing/regretting leaving my camera at home.

I guess the moral of this tale is :-[

Quote for replacing my electronic car key that fell to bits the other day. £118 plus another £68 to 'tune it in' with the car. ???

Took the edge off the fact that the car sailed through its MOT.

Hinfrance

Alan, you might not need to pay for the 'tuning' part, or even the manufacturer's key. Have a look to see if there is a forum for you car somewhere on the internet, there are forums for most makes and models, and see if there are alternatives - there often are.

An example: repair/replacement ECU for our now disposed of Mercedes: Mercedes price €1500 plus fitting, one year guarantee. Repair by a Nottingham specialist £230 with 2 year guarantee. Yes I had to remove and refit it myself, but that was only 15 minutes with a screwdriver. It's worth hunting around a bit.

Had a gander as you suggested Howard, I can get blanks OK but have to have them cut and if necessary 'tuned' for the car and only Citroen have the codes specific to the car for both to take place.

I'll just get a bog standard key with none of the remote facility and save quite a few quid.

Thanks for the steer though, cheers.

Ah well, at least you can get in the car now ;)

A bog standard key may not work Alan. Our local garage could not swop an engine on a French Opel because the engine code number it read would not be accepted by the cars in built computer.  Jobs for the boy's electric engineering and anti theft security of course; you may be snookered into having to go with the quote.

Best of luck

500px.

Impossible site. I thought I'd upload another picture for the craic, but after more than a dozen goes I can't upload anything. Giving up now.

WAM yesterday - Steinberg. :knuppel2:  :knuppel2: Trying to buy an add on for Cubase. Bear in mind I have an English language OS, running through a UK proxy server, and that the price before the checkout is shown as £12. I get to the checkout and suddenly the price is €14.99 (that's €0.49 more expensive before conversion fees). My credit card is in sterling, issued by a UK bank, but registered to my French address. After several increasingly frustrating attempts to pay regardless of the foregoing issues, payment is not possible. I spent half an hour on the 'phone to the credit card company, eventually being told that the payment had been authorised, but not processed. I'm going to have to resort to using Paypal I suppose  >:(

Me again. The gods seem to want to irritate me this week for some reason.

A jiffy bag arrived today with what would have been a Christmas present for our not so little any more daughter. It was from an Amazon marketplace seller. Posted from the UK on 6th December 2103. The stamp was charged at £3.00 on a small light package. Even given the general torpor of the Post Office that is a record slow delivery. I know it was stuck in the UK because La Poste date stamp envelopes when they arrive in France. That was 15/01/2014. Stuff arrives from Chinese eBayer's faster.

I feel your pain. I have similar issued here in Fla. Credit card issues here, in Largo, from local Bank, but because my billing address is back in Canada some internet sellers won't accept it to ship to my American address. Had a hell of a time getting a replacement part for my coffee maker because bought it in Canada, card bills to Canada the computer ignores the fact it's a U.S. card backed by U.S. funds. Had to do the whole transaction by phone and ended up using a Cdn. credit card to pay.  :uglystupid2:

Yesterday actually. Wandering around the street in the local town I was for the first time confronted by a person who objected to me 'taking photographs of him'.

I pointed out that  I was in a public place and wasn't in fact taking his picture, and that he was such an ugly spotty youth that it wouldn't enter my head to take his picture, so get out of my face and p*ss off. He looked a little shocked and walked away a little perplexed with all his mates laughing at him.

I don't recommend this response in every situation but his belligerent attitude got my gander up.

Well done that man
I had a similar conversation with a "female" last year but I explained that I would have had to be using a wide angled lens to fit her fat arse in if I was shooting her. ;D
Her portly partner/husband nearly choked on his rather large portion of chips

Love it Abers. Funnily enough the only ones I have ever had trouble with were kids in groups wanting to show off to mates a couple of times. I shocked two kids in Scarborough one time who repeatedly shouted "paedo" at me from the cliff above , as well as throwing stones, as I shot closed up colourful beach huts. I reported them to beach staff who went off after them.  They legged it of course but who should they bump into at the other end of the prom to be challenged when they had found the rest of their group of parents / family. Cue a good telling off ad red faces  :)

Good for you guys. Theres too much of this now. You feel ill at ease walking aound with your camera. I was challenged one day by some old Victor Meldrew who thought I was taking his photo... I was very polite at first and said "you're mistaken I was not taking your photograph" then he decided he would argue the point and demanded to see the screen so I told him to f... off...politely and in a ladylike manner off course. Where do these folk get off thinking they can be rude to you and not expect you to retaliate. That certainly put his gas on a peep and he moved off muttering to himself and his wife  :legit:
