This weeks theme is THE GREAT OUTDOORS.

The theme is open to interpretation, but the idea is for any photo taken outside. A broad theme, so think big.
No restrictions on PP.

This is the CHAT THREAD:

Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday 9th June 2014 to 23:59 Sunday 15th June 2014.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 16th June 2014.
Poll will be up Tuesday 17th June 2014.
Winner to be announced Saturday 21 June 2014.

The Rules for the weekly competition are...

By entering you agree to take responsibility to
Post a topic on the Sunday following your declared win
Create an entries thread
Create a chat thread
Create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc.)

In case of a tie, the first entry posted wins.

Photos to be taken during the specified dates, ie Monday xx to Sunday xx

Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59 Monday night.
May the Force be with you.

Mmm, this could be a bit of fun. Feel a bike ride coming on once my body has recovered from yesterdays walk round London with Eileen.
1 body, 1 lens, 1 flash gun, 1 tripod, 1 cable release & 1 filter. Keeping it simple!
(I lied, just got a second lens!)

How is Eileen? I never really 'knew' her, as she disappeared around the time I became a more regular visitor here.  I do remember her photos though.

Eileen is doing fine thank you. She is about to disappear to Tanzinia for 2 years with her work.

Eileen's trouble is 27 hours worth of work to do in every 24 hours. She's now mid learning to drive a car whilst doing her photography degree.
Hence her quietness here - something had to take a hit. Even her Flickr stuff is somewhat intermittent I think.

Anyway, better call time otherwise we'll be accused of going off thread  :-X

If the weather holds, I can do this. Most of my shots are taken outdoors, though mainly the urban outdoors, not exactly the 'great.'
(When I was in the Peak district last Bank Holiday weekend, it bucketed down, so I did not really manage to have a go at landscapes, a genre that I have hardly ever tried my hand at.)

Personally I don't see a problem with urban outdoors R. I think the broader the better.

You need to open your eyes a bit more R.

I live in Ipswich, hardly a great place to visit or expect to find anything of worth as I often comment, but even in its urban state, it has some 'great outdoor' views.

Replace 'great outdoors' with 'great pic of something outdoors (not inside a building)' and I think you will see a whole range of photographic opportunities.

I'm just hoping the weather holds out for a bike ride because I have Suffolk to play with then, and Suffolk is the reason Ipswich is such a dump.
It is to provide the balance between beauty and ugly  :o

Yes. Exactly.

I do a lot of great urban outdoors Andrew. Thing is, when I think 'great outdoors' I think of wide landscapes, with not too many people, or no people at all. Vistas, mountain ranges, lakes. And if I have to have people, they ought to be salmon fishing, or wild water rafting, or maybe horse riding. You get my drift.

Our local Common is beautiful and large, but still 'hemmed in.'

But I hope to get a great picture of something outdoors. Weather permitting.

I might have an entry, but if the site doesn't become a bit more responsive, I won't have time to submit it before Monday.

Monday is still okay to submit.

I probably won't have anything, as a festival I was going to 'do' this Saturday, has been cancelled. Which is good in a way, as I have to rest my leg after a minor 'procedure.'
And, I'm going away for three weeks on the 19th, so in case of a win, I would have had to delegate the thread and poll setting.

Everyone prefers their laundry dried outdoors. So here's mine

Drying Outdoors

I took this as a bespoke image for my daughters bathroom. She has now decided she wants me to try a white background, turning the pants to B&W to see if she prefers that better! She must think I have nothing better to do!

That is different Chris. Wasn't expecting anything like that. But the idea was for anything outside, so well done for thinking outside the box!   :)
