The discovery that Isreal was lobbing shells full of Phosperous into Gaza last year.

For those not familiar with phospherous - it is an incredibly lethal chemical used mainly in fertilisers but it is a substance that has to be processed by workers in space suits etc.
Lethal. And its effects on bare skin are long lasting and inhaling it is deadly in the most horrificly painful way.

To me, this sounds like chemical warfare - and they accuse Hamas of being terrorists and saying Iran and Iraq under Sadam were a threat?

Mmmmmm - not sure who is the real threat!

Nemesis

The travel chaos and accidents locally caused by a light overnight snowfall and slight frost.  Notwithstanding that the highways agency/council were caught out again, you'd think with all the snow and ice we'd have over the previous 8 weeks that motorists would have some clue as to the available adhesion and traction by now  >:(

Phosphorous sticks to skin and burns in the open air, and is normally stored in oil. Matches used to contain phosphorous and sometimes when you struck a match, a bit would fly off and stick to your skin and give a nasty burn.  :o

So, in all honesty, then not something any 'civilised' country should be using in these modern politically correct wars using weapons of precise targeting!

Dr. 'thinks' I have a stress fracture in my foot. Normal X-rays show nothing so I have to get a bone scan but there's a waiting line for those. Meantime I have to suffer walking. :'(

Was told yesterday that the company are/could be making redundancies and am waiting to see who it is!

You have my sympathy on that one. Walking has not been my best activity the last week or two.

Odd as this may sound, I'm hoping it is, because I get the distinct feeling if it's not, then it will be a mystery illness with no treatment.

We went shopping in Asda today, parked in view of main doors, came out after about an hour to find that complete set of wheel trims had been stolen off car....totally hacked off, £100 to replace. Went back into Asda to ask if they had security cameras, thier reply...erm no, only where the outside cash machines are.

I would chase them up on that as my guess is they cover the whole carpark with cameras.  :(

Went for my  bone scan last Tues. The hospital said they'd send a report to my Family Dr. in 5 days. It was a holiday weekend here so, I'm calculating the 5 days as being today. Call my Dr.'s office for followup and get told 'oh it takes much longer than 5 days and we'd call you if it showed something' If it didn't? 'Oh we don't call if nothing shows up' So I'm supposed to walk around in pain, ignorant of the outcome? 'oh if you really want an appt' they can look the report up on the computer when you get here, so you want an appt?'  YES F***N PLEASE!!  >:(

£80 seems a barely adequate punishment for this act of pure evil.

Salesmen.  Or rather crap ones.

These are people who want to sell me advertising etc.  W're talking many hundreds and often thousands of pounds.  I now have a policy of ending the meeting immediately if they do any of the following things

  • lying to me about material facts - a certain amount of embellishment is expected but stupid lies designed to rob me will not be tolerated
  • refusing to answer straightforward questions and using "company policy" as a reason - I will ask test questions to see if they are lying, if they won't answer then they are hiding something.  Always.
  • threatening me (really, a salesman thought this would be a good tactic)
  • phoning "the office" to see if they can get me a better rate - really this went out in about 1988

Today's guy lasted 8 minutes.

So after futzing around for almost a month getting x-rays and bone scans, turns out it's exactly what I suspected and suggest to my MD. Osteoarthritis. :'( I now have to go to a foot specialist and get fitted for special shoes or inserts. My wife suspects it's going to be in the neighbourhood of 400 Pounds cost.  >:( On the bright side....I'm starting medical school next week. ;)
