Epson 1400

Since this doesn't fit in any of the other categories, I'll post here. I've got the noted printer. I've have tried, for the very first time to print the large size 13 x19 inches. I get a series of what looks like red dropplets in a random pattern down the left (as you face the printer) side of the photo. I don't have any error lights and I've done the nozzle test and clean and retest and no errors found that way. I printed two shots, the drops didn't show up until the 2nd shot printed. Of course there's nothing on Epson's site FAQ's and nothing shows up on a Google search. And Epson's tech support hasn't responded to me. Any ideas?

I've never used an Epson 1400 but used to get this with the old school 1290.  It was caused by the pizza wheels (which help feed the paper) tracking ink from one place to another.  I removed them and the problem went away.

Google says it can affect the 2400 as well.  And provides tips for removing them.  And says it will void your warranty.

I have to confess, I am, at heart, a coward . The idea of taking a screwdriver to my printer makes my hands tremble. Since I'm not a Pro and don't need to print hundreds of copies I've found a time consuming solution. I print one photo in the morning, and a 2nd one when I get home from work, that appears to let the pizza wheels dry off in between.

I'm sure there was another solution involving spraying a sheet of paper with Windowlene and feeding it through the printer to clean it.

Not sure what you'd use then to get the windowlene off the pizza wheels......

Qu'est-ce que windowlene? A brand of glass cleaner?

Might be a daft idea, but I would try shoving a bog standard couple of A4 sheets of paper through on draft settings before trying a photo print job
