This is the entry thread for 'Compliments of the season'.

Take a picture that sums up the current season for you. That might be people relaxing on a beach or in the great outdoors generally (or sheltering from an unexpected shower  Wink); or wildlife, plants or insects that are particular to the current season, or a broader landscape or cityscape. Or something I haven't thought of that sums up your own feelings about this time of year.

Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday Monday 23rd August to Sunday 29th August.
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 30th August.
Poll will be up Tuesday 31st August  until 23.59pm Friday 3rd September.
Winner to be announced Saturday 4th August (winner should post the new topic no later than 23.59 Sunday 5th August).

The Rules for the weekly competition are...

By entering you agree to take responsibility to
post a topic on the Sunday following your declared win
create an entries thread
create a chat thread
create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc)

In case of a tie, the first entry posted wins.

photos to be taken during the specified dates, ie sunday xx to Monday xx

pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59 Monday night

Poll to be created Tuesday to run till Friday, winner declared Saturday

Editing limits to be specified by the person choosing the competition subject, if nothing is mentioned then there is no limit to editing allowed.

Montage images should only contain images taken within specified dates

Please don't vote for your own entry

Everyone is welcome and comments and critique on the entries are also welcome

The rowan trees are heavy with berries now. They say it's a sure sign of a hard winter to come. (and what a beautiful morning today!)

Clear skies and moonlit scenes typify this time of year for me!  This week has been most unseasonal though, this was the only clear night we had.

This time of year allways brings the Charity Fun Day at the local Pub. Here is a friend of mine having wet sponges thrown at him for a £ a go.. I opted to photograph the event.. :legit:

The summer means endless return visits to local tourist attractions with house guests in tow:

Sunshine and showers. Not necessarily the best picture I have taken this week, but the one that seems to me to sum up the week best. It was taken yesterday at Mount Ephraim Gardens in Kent. We sat out a rain shower under the shade of some trees and were rewarded with wonderful golden light.

Great range of images - it'll be a difficult choice this week! I will set up the poll this evening.
