I got an email from them today about this.

Oh yeah, did I mention I am now running an old Mac to a 40 inch telly with quad speakers  :o - the resolution is awesome.

No - there are actually too many drawbacks.  The main one for me being that it can't run an iPhoto slideshow - only a slideshow of pics in iPhoto.  That means I have no control over transitions and duration  >:(  They also work better in the US where choice at the iTunes store where range of programs is (a) larger and (b) cheaper.

Tis a bit of a problem with Apple and it's reliance on iTunes - the licensing agreements are all US based so the rest of the world can go hang it seems.

Been looking at the new mp4 players, iPod nano - £99, Sony £79 - sony has a bigger screen and supports more formats than the iPod. And to heck with it, I'm not trendy and I don't care who knows it!
