Right then, we appear to have got to the bottom of why my Firewall does not like the PR site, apparently it is down to something called "Doubleclick":

It appears that they collect non personally identifiable information about site usage, IP address, etc. and pass this back to Future for marketing purposes, given though that PR can, if they wish, tie up you IP address to the info they get back from doubleclick, I'm not that certain of just how "non personally identifiable" it really is.

I never realised the extent to which this stuff happens until now. :o

That is the sole purpose of a "cookie" - and you have to see just how many of them are placed on your computer.

Some sites won't even let you access them until you've allowed them to drop a cookie into your browser so they learn all there is to learn about your surfing habits.
