Yes, my lot enjoy the French system, with the two eldest coming, 2nd (out of 300 @ uni) and top of their class @ Lycee  ;D

I finish on my current project today so no more getting up at stupid o'clock on a Monday morning to travel to the south coast

Well that is until I start on my next project, really hoping it's closer to home.

If we'd lived in Holland, I'd have known at least three very good schools, which are not totally free, but oh dear, we'd still have been able to have proper holidays! We occasionally discussed moving to Holland, but never dared do it, as our income is in sterling and my husband is too English, to settle in a country where people do pop in unannounced.

I don't find the south coast too bad! But then I don't have to live in a hotel of course.

I love the south coast especially the area around Portsmouth but living in a hotel 4 nights a week is not fun - at all.

If anybody is ever in the area have a trip to Bosham at high tide - just be careful where you park your car!!!!!

Did my first big challenge I set myself to get out of a rut with my photography. Organised my first model shoot getting an iconic Leeds building to shoot in, 5 great models, a make up artist, couple of other photographers to shoot with  and a couple of really classy clothes shops to lend us stock as well as access to Martin guitars from another shop. 4 .5 hour shoot with barely time for lunch and it was great. Buzzing. I`ll post some images up when I get a chance to do some edits but nearly 500 to look through now. I am just amazed at how much co-operation you get for free with a bit of brass, a trade off of images and a smile. Loved it!

Yep, know that feeling. My camera has still to see action this year yet, in any meaningful way. By that i mean it came out at last weeks photo club to show a lady who was new to DSLR photography the differences between her 1D3 and my 5D2.

I'm using my time to go through my pics and make sure they're all keyworded as efficiently as possible - and also looking at re-visiting some of the shots to see if i have another take on them that i prefer. Also looking at trying for my LRPS this year, so that may get my concentration...

Ditto, partly it's the weather here, it's been dull, overcast and rainy. Partly I've been ill and housebound as a result. I've downloaded the new Corel (old bibble) program and am going through some old stuff to see if they will clean up. I've posted one pic that was badly overexposed and it brought it around quite nicely I thought.  :) I've still got a gift certificate for our local camera chain that I was given for Christmas, I'm going to see about putting toward a light meter. :)

Congratulations Jinky. Looking forward to seeing some of the shots.

I too haven't been out and about much yet, mainly took a few 'studio' shots. That is: light tent on dining room table. Then had a great time editing! Did one for the comp 'on that site' that simply must win! I'll post it here later in the day. (I'm on the wrong pc now.) And for the rest, I too have revisited older files, and rescued some abstracts I made on a visit to Daughter in Sheffield, during the October heatwave.

ABERS

Like everyone else I've been somewhat lacking in venturing forth with the camera, I think Remembrance Day was the last time.

Mind you, have you noticed, that Cartier-Bresson chap hasn't done much lately either. ;)

Sounds interesting Jinky, is it as satisfying as going out and about looking for pics?

Yes it was interesting beacuse I was tryin g to shoot with a number of briefs I had in my head at once. getting wider shots requested by the Corn exchange manager in return for free shoot permissin, getting product shots for the great suppliers who worked with us, getting make up shots for th MUA and "something different" for the models. The models ranged in experience so I could shoot their poses they rattled off but also needed to direct a lot too - and I now know more about my limitations! :) . I still love going out looking for shots  but with the size of this venue it amounted to the same as we had to mingle with the public use and look for less busy areas in the background. Great fun. Even bteer I came home to two requests for a price for jobs - here`s hoping they come through and are ot another couple of basement bargain price hunters! One of my favourites from the Corn Exchange shoot.Nice as the building was to shoot in I had to get out at one point and with two models in tow and freezing under parkas we found this door.

Went for a followup to my lab tests ( the cat was busy so no scans  ;D ) and have been told my kidneys are good and function properly, my bladder is good and functions properly and my prostate isn't overly enlarged FOR A MAN MY AGE!  :o The "we need to test your urine for evidence of cancer cells" took that bit of joy down a notch though.

But I was able to meet up with an old work mate for a bit of lunch though and catch up on office gossip.  ::)

Well my previous "feel good" news was tempered today. Went to my diabetes specialist and got dressed down. My blood sugars have been bad these last couple of months. Add insult to injury I discovered when I got home, that part of my problem is, I forgot to get one of the prescriptions he gave me last time, filled.  :-[ I haven't been taking one of my diabetes medications for 4 months.  :uglystupid2:
