Chelsea Pensioner Smile I took on remembrance Sunday as well & sent it to the Royal Hopsital with a little cover note asking them to pass it on to the pensioner concerned, seeing as he fought for King/Queen & Country and the shot scored me a 10/10 in the last pdi comp I thought it was the least I could do....

What a thoughtful thing to do

WMMFGT, there was a photo comp at the place I'm currently working to find pictures for next year's calendar.  I entered five photos and I've just found out that three of them were picked, got a smug little smile on my face now!!

I've also mounted a print of the Chelsea Pensioner Smile I took on remembrance Sunday as well & sent it to the Royal Hopsital with a little cover note asking them to pass it on to the pensioner concerned, seeing as he fought for King/Queen & Country and the shot scored me a 10/10 in the last pdi comp I thought it was the least I could do....

A very nice gesture.

Thanks all I just thought this time of year and the fact he fought for our freedom he might like it (of course he might hate it as well but even if he hates it I hope he appreciates the gesture)

Actually the reverse I've actually lost a couple of pounds where I'm walking to and from work everyday (about a mile each way) they were just an old pair that I've worn to death...annoying though as they were combats that when they got wet they dried really quickly, so they were great for shoots up at Richmond Park etc oh well just have to try and get some more

Michael CONGRATULATIONS to get 3 shots chosen is fantastic well done

Well done Michael and Krennon.
WMMFGT - just posted some shots from a weekend Model Experience workshop I was bought as a pressie on a Living Social deal. Had a great day doing what I am worst at - directing models. They were instructed not to "give" any poses and to just work under direct instruction. Great learning and was happy with some of the shots I got though a few more photographers than ideal for the 5/6 models involved. Nice location and environment. Just heard that they have selected my set and one of my shots as best of the day and they are using it with a credit to promote their workshop.
This shot

here:

I preferred other shots posted but glad they liked them anyway.

Picked up a nice used Minolta Beer Can lens yesterday for my Sony. Now if only the weather would cooperate (everything is dull and gray and brown) I could be out using it.  :P

You say that Spin, but i was conversing with Eileen the another night, who mentioned that John Fanning had a pic in an exhibition at the Tate or Tate Modern (forget which) and wondered if i remembered him.

The conversation then moved on to "what has become of the old hard core DCM" - because not all are here participating, though others have moved on in ways that make it less possible to join in - but maybe we could have a thread listing all the main contributors to DCM until it descended into abuse and anarchy that was to be the platform for PR.

By 'hardcore' - i suppose i'm talking about those who remember Stan or the infamous 1 Star Rider disputes.
Still not sure if Flake was Stan in a sex change!

I was involved along with a few others outing the 1 star freak. (my name over there was Nosmo_king)
Lots of good members left DCM because the admin refused to get involved.
Don Tiffney (tiff) Donny (vxisme) Howard Goff (now passed away), Veggiesosage, Dave Constable (red eyes),Matt Harris, Garry (cathus) Jon Fanning, Janet (top totty)  and many more. All great togs and ready to help out anyone with coaching and encouragement.
I'm still in contact with most of them.
Was a great forum back then when Jake Xi (sp) was in charge but when he left a couple of clowns called ant and dick (or something similar) took over and responded to any issues raised with "if you don't like it leave"
A lot of people did and never returned. Was the death of DCM IMHO
Happy days

A great bunch and thanks for reminding me of them. Who was the chap who did exellent competition reviews, had a great sence of humour (and got banned for it) and went to live on the beach on the west coast of Ireland?

KeithT & Alan Ingham & Spiritflier all missed (I know spiritflier is around on flickr though)

WMMFGT Well I got a little letter back from the Chelsea Pensioner that I sent the photo too, and boy am I surprised....he dabbles in photography himself, and to my suprise and honour has invited myself and a companion to go and see him after christmas either during the week or at the weekend, where we will get a private tour and see parts of the royal hopsital that even organised tour parties don't get to see, have a spot of tea in The Great Hall and then maybe a drink or two (his words) in the In-Pensioners Club.

To say I am surprised, touched and honoured all at the same time would be an understatement, I am overwhelmed at this offer and will be taking him up on it. At the very most I thought I would get a "thank you for the photo it was very nice of you to send me a copy" never ever did I expect to get an invite such as this...I really am overwhelmed and even my wife had tears in her eyes when she read the letter.......  :)
