My little compact clapped out after only taking 502 shots, a Samsung es28.
I miss having a little camera in my pocket when i go out as i don't always carry my FZ35 due to space.
Can anyone recommend me a small pocket camera with a big zoom and a fast reaction, don't need GSP or Video really but do need good sharp photos and good shots in poor light too if possible.

What small camera do you carry in your pocket and why? I am open to suggestions so thanks in advance. E.

Have a look at the Lumix TZ range. I have the TZ30 and it is excellent but a bit expensive, there are some good deals around on the TZ20, the previous model, at the moment.

I have a Lumix LX5. I decided to forego a wide zoom range for quality. It's expensive, but worth it for me.

The other camera I was looking at was the Olympus in the same price bracket. Can't remember the model number, but Graham has one I believe - this is an excellent camera too.

It really comes down to how much you're planning to spend.

So that's my 2c worth :)

  Thanks Hugh.
Yes. it's the Olympus XZ-1 and it's fabaroony. Super fast lens for a compact which makes it great in low light.
"Big zoom" you say... your going to struggle! Do you really really need a big zoom?

Very sorry, I'm quite old and easily confused.  :-[
