The theory seems to be that as long as a man is a failure he is one of God's children, but that as soon as he succeeds he is taken over by the Devil. H.L Mencken.

We had a dinner reservation last night at 8pm. Blizzard conditions, so no taxis, Daughter did not want to drive, for fear of not being able to get back, so we walked. Just over three miles to get there. (We had rung the restaurant and changed the reservation to 9pm.)

Still not possible to get a taxi when we were going home, so we started walking again. Managed to flag down a taxi at some point, which took us to a point not too far from daughters home and we walked the rest, up quite steep slopes.

Found an email this morning from  friend in Michigan, who had seen the BBC coverage of the snow in Sheffield on her iPad.

Okay, it was a good snow storm, which left a good snow cover, but it is December after all!

Thoroughly enjoyed the walk!
