FOUND OBJECTS. CHAT THREAD. Weekly competition 21 - 27 November 2011

This week, I would like you all to go out, and find 'something out of place.' Something that does not belong there, and I am specifically looking for LOST, DISCARDED or DUMPED objects. Anything goes, from crisp packets to cars, teddies to tyres, bicycles to big-ends.

Pictures to be taken between 00.01am Monday 21st November 2011 to 23:59 Sunday 27th November 2011 .
Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59pm Monday 28th November 2011.
Poll will be up Tuesday 29th November 2011.
Winner to be announced Saturday 4th December 2011.

The Rules for the weekly competition are...

By entering you agree to take responsibility to
Post a topic on the Sunday following your declared win
Create an entries thread
Create a chat thread
Create a poll for that weeks comp and declare the winner on the Saturday (Or find a kind soul to do it for you!)
(if for any reason there is a problem and no subject is posted by the winner by Monday night admin will advise second place winner to post the topic asap, do the poll etc)

In case of a tie, the first entry posted wins.

Photos to be taken during the specified dates, ie Monday xx to Sunday xx

Pictures to be posted in the entries thread no later than 23.59 Monday night

Oh no, not another self portrait challenge . .  :legit:

I don't do self portraits very well. Or not at all!

My new avatar is from a series done 'at  college,' where I am doing a photography course for beginners/improvers. We had a studio session and one of my fellow students, took loads of photographs of me, as my hair 'worked' better with the 'hairlight and snood,' (if that's what it's called) than that of my fellow students. I have now a CD full of portraits, some of which I cannot open as they are in RAW, which I can't cope with. (Have asked an acquaintance to have a go at them for me.)

To make a long story short, I have so much choice of avatar possibilities, that I don't know what to do. Hope this one is okay with you guys (and gals).

Reinardina I use picasa (also irfanview) which are freeware from google to open and view raw shots, before import to lightroom

Don't count the days "Guest," make the days count!.

I've got Picasa on my laptop; I'll have a look at it and see if it 'does' something.
I think Elements (I use PSE8) should be able to cope with it, but nothing happened when I clicked on the files. Haven't really had time to look into it properly though.
Thanks for the tip!

I did manage to see the RAW pictures in Picasa. Thanks for the tip.
I left it to a friend to edit them though, he just whizzed through them, explaining what he was doing while doing it.
As my camera does not take RAW shots, I've already forgotten more than half of the wise lessons!

Ever since I moved to England in 1984, I have always been surprised at the amount of clothing found in streets and parks. Often perfectly wearable things like jumpers, trainers and tracksuits.
For this competition I was therefore definitely not going to photograph someone else's wardrobe pieces.

Till I found this, during my stint as a volunteer ranger in a country park. It was lying in a rather inaccessible area, under trees and shrubs and it obviously had been there a long time. It looks almost fossilised and it has become well camouflaged. Whose it was? How it got there? Haven't a clue!

But, I'm in with this. A long lost love/glove.

Mine might not seem out of place at first glance (the denizens of Chelsea have been remarkably tidy this weekend and no debris lying around, surprisingly for a Sunday!) BUT I figured that it was out of place on two counts.  (1)  The snowman is out of place in one of the warmest winters on record  (2)  I reckon Christmas is out of place at anytime, but particularly so before December.
