Am I too late for this thread?

I bought one, and sent it back as it wouldn't focus properly. According to Canon, it was the lens, but it turned out to be to do with Canon's crappy AF issues (no more Canon bitching!).

Anyway, the thing I was staggered by was the actual size of the lens. Huge for a 70mm, and it's only 2.8 max aperture. Weighed a ton. However, I accept macro lenses are a quality thing, not for convenience.

I thought it would be good for portraits too, but was a little too unwieldy for me.

I'd rather buy one of the cheap AI/AIS Micro Nikkors off ebay. The 55mm 2.8 or 3.5 are very good.
