HDR Photography

I have watched a few video's on HDR photography over the last few days
and was wondering is there any good free HDR software out there, I know
good and free don't always go well together however I would like to give it
ago but don't want to be spending to much at the moment as I am of to Turkey
in a few weeks on a week with no women,  just camera play all week.

Geoff, you can try Dynamic Photo for free. At least it will give you the opportunity to muck about with a commercial product before taking the plunge (or not)

You used to be able to download photomatix for a free trial period. Results were just stamped with logo but could work out if it was for you. So good I bought it.

I'm with Jinky.
I use Photonatix Pro. Got the free trial and just cloned stamped out the watermark. It's very easy to use, and I'm going it buy it.
The only problem with HDR in my experience is getting it right and not over doing it.

If you are going to go commercial, look at the Nik Software suite.  HDR EFex pro is as good as Photomatix.  Plus you get the excellent Silver Efex and Colour Efex.  You can find discount codes all over and with those it is not much more than Photomatix.

I have both Photomatix, going back ages, and Nik. I reckon that Nik's HDR2 is rather better than Photomatix, which always seems to me to create as much noise as it does depth - something Nik doesn't suffer from. Also with Nik you get Viveza which is something I use quite often.

I've only ever used Photomatix for HDR, but something I only noticed in v5 was the ability to give it a single RAW image (not bracketed group note) and it will then create 3 sepreate images from that single RAW from which to create and HDR.

As i use it as a plug in to LR5, what Photomatix produces can sometimes find itself being updated in LR5...
What I like about Photomatix is the vast array of examples it produces before you opt for the version you were after. Whilst I often have a finished image in mind, occasionally it surprises me with an option i hadn't fully considered which I prefer - but i suppose that is the same with any processing

Aside from the one into three thing, that is how HDR Efex works too.
