There was nothing about stout boots and a bin bag. At least as important as a camera.

I'm pretty sure the advice about not copying is not entirely right either - if there is one thing competition judges are it is creatures of habit. Anyway, remember, good artists copy; great artists steal.

My neighbour who is an accomplished wildlife photographer always 'cheats' where possible. He sets up backgrounds and entices his subjects with food or nesting environments and then waits. He's very good at waiting, still, silent and in the freezing cold (ex Special Forces). He rarely publishes his pictures, he takes them for his own satisfaction, although he has had a few in Chasseur d'Images (France's biggest photography magazine) and their nature specials (I can't remember what they're called).
