Just a couple of snaps from the garden last night.

Thoughts would be appreciated

Two cracking shots Anglefire. I like the background.

Very nicely shot in nice light with good backgrounds. What lens were you using here? Maybe a deeper depth of field on the 2nd as the front petal is a little soft if I was being picky but nice shots

Two great photos there Mark, and I agree with the comments above.
Great detail and backgrounds. And I like the simplicity of the photos .
Good work.
May the Force be with you.

What lens? Well a totally inappropriate one really! my 300f2.8 L IS and 2x converter! DOF doesn't significantly improve when you stop down - especially at about 7' away!

Both were shot at f5.6 1/640" and ISO250 former 500 latter.

But it was the lens on the camera at the time and the others were upstairs!

The background on the first was mostly the patio - the second a quince- so green leaves and red flowers.

The best lens is always the one you have with you when taking the shot. ;) I only asked as I thought it might not be a macro one

This is very true - though on Sunday I was in the garden and the Robin was flying around - and I couldn't take his/her picture because it was too close - within 7'! And no definitely not a macro lens!
