For this week's competition, in honour of the Dalai Lama`s visit to Leeds to address a business conference on "ethical business" at £345 a ticket, I thought the old classic title of "One " would be fitting. Shoot one of anything at all making it as beautiful, enigmatic, simple or exciting as you like. Anything goes in processing.
Gives me an opportunity to post the Australian interviewer`s attempt at engaging the DL with humour too:

Yep, definitely more than one!
Don't think I'll enter this time though, as I'll be away for a fortnight from June 20th.
Unless of course someone offers to do the honours like setting up threads and the poll, in the unlikely event I'd win.
There can be only one!
Not sure I understand the topic.......................

Chris, it is just one of anything, something, solitary, on it's own, one etc; etc;
The ULTIMATE ONE. As I walked through the woods today looking for inspiration I saw a single, lonely rotted stump and thought, 'o, that would be good'. I took several pictures, and returned home. But then I though, 'a stump was one tree, but now is less than one. As I looked at the pic though, I relized it was more than one. It was actual 10.1 mega pixels. Too big! So I reduced the size a bit. In fact I reduced it to the ULTIMATE ONE, because 1 multiplied by one, is still one. It just doesn't get any more one-er than that.

But can you reduce it to one pixel? :P
Look again.
It's sort of green. I have to admit it doesn't say a lot to me ;)
Being one pixel it is, of course, also only one color.

Yes kerbside got it right - one of anything. Cannot be simpler really - if there are two you have to clone one out which is allowed in processing without limits. Any colour, any size anything - that OK? ;)
Something like this: One Volunteer. (This is not an entry by the way, as I did not take the picture.) It is however the latest shot of me, taken at today's volunteering stint.

Is that the same hammer you use to keep hubby in line? :P

No, even though the hammer is perfectly balanced, I prefer the simple wooden post. Much easier to get rid of afterwards; hammer it into the ground, burn it or simply put on the log pile!

You should keep that safe Andy, as it may become a collectors piece! :P

do you have to put your photo in the entry thread as well as the entry gallery folder?
Hi Kerry,
Entries must be in the entry thread ; it also makes it easier for who ever is doing the poll :)

Thanks for the reply Andy :D
I'm amazed that no-one did 'one cornetto' - I was going to, but never quite got around to it.
It never crossed my mind H, I just chose something topical, and then tried to make it as interesting as possible with the light available, to capture the projected image on the paper background surface.

I like the 'quite' here. You mean you ate it before you could photograph it? A la Jinky?

Err.....you need sunshine for that but we haven't had much lately! :'(
The divine Mrs H assured me that we had some of the icy confectionery in the freezer, but she was mistaken. Then it was Sunday and the shops were shut. I've bought some now, so if the chance to feature one comes up again I might - or I might just eat them all before that eventuality :)
Howard, did you take a shot revealing more of the flower? Lovely rich colours
Yes Andy, I did. Haven't had a chance to do anything with the other shots yet - see my pictures of the wheel bearing from the mower - been mucking about with that most of the day. :(

I can see it's rather "oval'y" worn; pully wheel?
Thanks for stepping in and doing the poll Howard - I owe you one. Been up in Newcastle since last Saturday after my mum became seriously ill. One o those 5am in the morning "get up here as soon as possible" calls you just dread. She had gone in re: a leg injury after a nasty fall and developed an infection which nearly did for her. Severe pain meant she was on high does of morphine and I feared she hadhad major stroke but it was the drugs, infection and dehydration. She only started to come round yesterday ad it was like seeing my old mum back in the room when I went in this morning. It will be a long road to recovery and I guess I will be driving between Leeds and Newcastle a lot but looks like she is over the worst, She is 87, blind, pretty much immobile but what a fighter. Glad others entered and did not think I won`t bother if the subject setter didn`t but other priorities.
I`ll go and vote now! ;)
Whoops! Just went to vote and saw Colin had stepped in before Howard got to it so thanks Colin. Come on Howard - you`ll have to move faster than that! ;) ;)
Glad to hear that your Mum is doing better.
Yep, Colin was out of the blocks too quickly for me - I was still doing my shopping when he was already done. :D
