I've just bought these triggers to try with my lights and flashgun. They work great. I can now fire the studio lights and flashgun together.

Mmm, interesting. I see their head office is about 3 miles from me, I'll pay them a visit.
           Thanks for posting.  Graham.

Graham,

This firm is advertising double sided vinyl studio backgrounds ( Black one side & white the other ) which I am interested in so if you go there could you have a quick look for me and give me your opinion.

If I buy I will be picking it up on my way to a mate in Burton on Trent so we could meet up and I will buy you a drink

Dave,

have you considered buying HGV curtain side vinyl?

Lastolite do their vinyl background for around £200, I bought mine which was an additional 3 meters in length to Lastolite's for £40 plus £20 delivery from a company in Glasgow who makes covers for HGV trailers, apparently they sell a lot of white vinyl to photographers.

Or try a haberdashers - the one in town here sells white 'blackout' material 3.5m across for €12.90 a metre. Been meaning to get some, but never seem to have the family estate car to myself when I am passing.

I`m still using my Egyptian cotton sheets (black and white) 2 of each which cost me £4.99 each. Bugger to iron though - quicker to clone out the odd crease that shows. Seen Cathus` tip before but never sure how much to get as weight of the roll and fitting it in the lounge is the issue. As a comparison with the link how wide / long is yours Cathus (if you don`t mind me asking?  ;) )

Thanks for all the ideas.

At the moment I am using a purposely made cotton sheet ( 3m x 6m ) with a pole sleeve which is permanently set up in the studio which is fine except for the floor area which gets constantly dirty and creased with people moving around on it.

At the moment we are laying a additional sheet over the floor space which we can remove overnight for cleaning but its not ideal. The double sided black & white vinyl would be ideal
as I would only need to turn the poll around to change the background and as its vinyl would only need the occasional wipe.

The HGV vinyl is a good idea, I know a few people in the Transport world so I will make a few enquiries. Jinky the best way to get rid of creases in cotton background sheets is to hang it on the background support and spray it with water using a atomizer and leave it overnight, all creases magically disappear.

The reversable black & white vinyl seems reasonable value for £ 140.00 especially if it is truly double sided but it could be as ever to good to be true which is why I have asked Graham to have a look at it should he go there.

The other problem with cotton on the floor is the way it moves around and gathers up under the subject.  ( example below )

( PS  I have had to double check and check again the spelling of vinyl. Its one of those words that never seem right to me even when it is )

Hi Dave.
Just seen your comment. I'm not going to be able to get this weekend, my work at the Assembly Rooms (Gigpics) goes a bit bonkers this time of year.
I looked at the address on Google Earth and it's a (Very nice.) residential area. I suspect they'er working out of a garage or something. Nowt wrong with that!
I'll shout up if I get to go over, in the meantime lots of ideas allready posted.

Just found the invoice. I got 7 meters x 2.5m for £49 plus £20 delivery from Tony Beal Ltd in Glasgow. It came on a cardboard roll, it is quite heavy, I can just about manage putting it up on the supports on my own but 2 people is preferable.  I usually set it up in my living room on my own.

I use cotton bedsheets as well, bought some thin bungee cord cut to 8" lengths tie one end to bground support & the other to a bulldog clip that attaches to the sheet, a bit of tension on the bungee pulls the sheets flat.
