for want of a better way of putting it - you beat me to it.

I suppose we are reaching that point where some of the 'pioneering' photographers are reaching the point where lives will expire.
At least we have their pictures and recollections recorded

i thought you meant the singer
i'm not familiar with his work but i have had a good look today

i knew some one would have to think that.
It's quite a statement in itself that one of our greatest photographers of the last century has been superseded by a singer of this century!  :(

NB. Duffy destroyed most of his negatives in the late '70s.

Yes i know - but much has been done to recover his collection via other means. Interviews were not part of his portfolio, prints given to clients, friends, family etc were also not part of his portfolio and while you're right that much has been lost by that act of destruction, enough still exists to be of great use.

    Saturday 10.30pm on BBC4.
There's a one hour programme with Brian Duffy talking about his life and career.
The programme's called "The man who shot the 60's".

Watched the programe this morning (It's on BBC iPlayer). Well worth a look.
    Highlites for me.
                            1. Duffy on the sofa with David Bailey in the twilight of their years, gripeing like a pair of old fish wives.
                            2. Seeing him updating his picture of Joanna Lumley and her son, directing with his eyebrows.
                            3. Ms. Lumley's rhyme.
                                                            "David Bailey, makes love daily,
                                                             Brian Duffy, bald and scruffy!"

I recomend you catch it if you can.

yes, it's certainly worth a watch - and an interesting insight into the mind of a pro through those exciting and changing times.

That documentary was shown some time before his death, iirc. The 'catch-up' with David Bailey was good. :)

Sandy

I managed to catch it on iplayer and thought it was well worth watching
